They are made buy red wing, but buyin them in England will cost you a bomb, so get them from America, thats where they are from, its coz here in England, it's importing them that costs alot :(

I've shot off an email to RedWing about wether the 8146 and 8147 styles are available in the States. These look similar to the 100-year model they had a while back, which was only marketed in Europe. For some reason, RedWing seems to think this style of boot won't sell over here. They have been good about responding, so I will post their reply when it comes in.

Called their 800 number - they are made here but are unavailable here. - Go figure. How about a bunch of irate emails demanding they be available here? write to "Customer.Service@RedWingShoe.com" something like this:

Dear sirs,
I am very interested in your model 8146 and 8147 boots. For some reason you have decided not to market these in the U.S., even though they are made here. It seems ridiculous that I need to pay double shipping and import fees to buy a product mode here. Please consider selling these very fine boots in the United States.
Thank you,
etc

If every U.S. COW member slung one of these off, maybe we would see the boots over here!

I sent an email about the availability of getting these boots (and the 1908 model) here in the US. I recieved this email:

Hi Jeff,

I wanted to get back to you on this topic.

Initially the International line and the US line did not share projects as some of the “Work” styles were already represented domestically. As the International styles have evolved to more fashion, we have decided that this Fall 2007 we will be ranging some shoes/boots domestically. The 1908 is actually a discontinued style from the International line and have dropped out of the mix however we have the same looks/shoes that are coming out but in different colors. (same shoe, new material).

Tentatively we don’t have the retailers listed that will carry these boots, but most likely you will be able to find them after September on places like Zappos.com or a key retailers. Either check on Zappos in September or send me an email and we’ll try to help you locate what you are needing.

Thanks for your interest in Red Wing Shoes!

And I just got this:
"
Hello David –

In July you will be able to find a slightly different version of the 8146 & 8147 on Jcrew.com. The shoe/design is the same, but they will come with 2 sets of laces (one leather and one cord) as well as a slight tweak to the eyelets.

There are 2 material versions – one is the same as the 8146 in Briar Oil Slick – the other is offered in our Copper Rough & Tough.

Look for them on Jcrew.com or in the Jcrew catalog. They have product launches in both July and September of 2007.

We will have other heritage styles available at US retailers domestically after September 1st so circle back with us if you have any other requests or check our online retail partners like Zappos.com.

Thanks for your interest in Red Wing Shoes.

Since these boots look like very good replicas, this could be great news.
