Wested Fit
I know the "how should it fit" questions are done to death, but how should Indy's jacket fit at the very bottom near your waist? I've realized my Wested might be a little loose in that area as it puffs out a bit even when it's zipped up.

That has always been a problem with my jackets from both Wested and FS......and I haven't been accused of having a trim waist in many moons.
This is partially due to to my barrel chest, but also it is indicative of how much more exact the fit needs to be compared to an A2 which has an elastic waist that will fit a variety of sizes.

I have noticed that as well... Check out the third post here:

The jacket looks a lot more tapered than what mine look like... I ordered my newest jacket with a slight taper to it to be more form-fitting - although I will always say that jacket looks best worn open.

MK, I know you're not built like Mr. Ford - you have shoulders, but that new "authentic lambskin jacket looks like it fits like a charm on you! Looks fantastic and quite an drool issue for all of us.MK wrote:That has always been a problem with my jackets from both Wested and FS......and I haven't been accused of having a trim waist in many moons.
Any chance this jacket will get distressed?
Rick5150, I like the more tappered look with the Westeds (if its going to be worn with other Indy gear)... I hope you like the new fit.
Chamorro, I'd have to agree with you. I've found the Wested's run fairly large for someone of my size as well. Not as large as Flightsuits sizes where they feel everyone is Corn-fed and plays football But fairly large for someone who regularly fits into a suit jacket of 38R without problem. Just mentioning this for anyone who's new at purchasing a Wested, though I do doubt there is anyone here who is... ok, my 2 cents are up.

I probably should mention that my observations of this come from Flightsuits military jackets. I do not own an Expedition, but I have several other jackets from Flightsuits and they fit this way.Prof. Fanara wrote:Not as large as Flightsuits sizes where they feel everyone is Corn-fed and plays football
Open mouth, prepare to insert foot...

Wested jackets seem to be built for action. I've had to do some serious running in mine and not once did I feel inhibited. As for the other leather jackets I've worn, I felt like there should be straps to tie me down with before I get locked in the padded room...
... and for you folks who know me so well, you know how appropriate that would be.

No argument here. I love how action-worthy Westeds are. I'm just one of those skinny guys that it takes a lot of work from a Tailor to do, before a garmet fits well.Renderking Fisk wrote:Wested jackets seem to be built for action. Luckily, with a lot of hard work on both Peter's and my part, we've got a pattern that I am VERY happy with that makes a Wested that fits me like a dream.
I must have been babbling in skinny-folks land. Sorry Renderking. It is fun to hear so many positive experiences with people owning and using their Westeds though.

Just to be fair, FS's can fit like the Wested if you order them 'made to measure' , as ALL Wested's are usually 'made to measure', but they can sell off the rack sizes too. My FS does not fit the way described above, but then mine was made to my specifications and shouldn't. Just wanted to 'insert' that here. (grins) Regards. Michaelson

Let me add to the above discussion. I wear standard off the rack 44R jackets and suits with no modifications. I must fit the standard pattern. But I absolutely did not require any changes to my FS Expo. It was not made to measure and the 44R fit perfectly. I receive many compliments on the fit and drape.
On my two other WEsted's, I did state I wore a 44R, but I sent every detail I could to Peter. I was not sure how different the UK 44R was to the US 44R. So I got good fitting jackets from Wested. I just wish the gussets were there, like my FS. What can I say, I ordered gussets.
