Agreed, Steve is the best...but wow, 21 weeks? Has anyone else here been waiting that long?

Ah, so you have never heard of the legendary Adventurer, Jason, who sailed the world in his ship the Argo B enduring a series of life threatening challenges in search of the fabled "Golden Beaver AB."

So...how long did it take before he got his hat?..or "Golden Beaver fleece AB."...or Technicolor Dream Coat....or whatever?

I can't remember exactly (High School was a very long time ago). I believe it was 3 1/2 years, but he got a really pretty sorceress/wife as well.

Hey- I wonder if Steve is throwing in any extras!

I think my wait for my AB was right around 26 weeks. Yes, it was worth the wait, and even knowing that it would take that long, I would order another one tomorrow. The best things in life are worth waiting for, just be patient.

Week 16! My hat's due this month - yes!! ...since my Akubra is on an adventure of its own somewhere in San Francisco  I need a hat for new reasons now. It'll be back to only having 1 Indy fed - I was expecting to have 2. :(

IndyMcFly is in the lucky group of us who got the AB rabbit deal. It was in the end of October when Fedora offered up the rabbit deal, funny thing is I think I ordered the hat the same day as my wested. Fedora recently said that the rabbit ABs will be on the block mid-February and I can't wait to get that hat!

So now we Oct folks are looking at Feb again? I was thinking I was going to get mine in March or April. So, I'm at 18 weeks. There are people saying 26!!! Does anyone have any insight into what the actual wait time is these days?
I got a beaver, not a rabbit. Are the rabbit orders going out ahead of the beaver orders?

Oh and I know, I know...."be patient". I'm prepared to be patient. I'm just wondering how long I am going to have to be patient for.

My AB took 28 weeks, arriving at the beginning of January. I hear that the wait time has gone down some, but I'm not sure by how much.

If Steve plans on making the late Oct. orders (rabbit AB's) in mid-February, then doesn't that mean all the early October orders should be made pretty soon, if not being made already?

Well, I was thinking maybe I should start a new thread for people who got in on the AB Rabbit deal. That way everyone that was in on it, I think there were 12 of us , could gather in there and maybe that would make things easier for Steve.

I'm guessing the poor guy is getting swamped with requests and e-mails left and right. Especially now that he's announced his deal with Magnoli and the HJ hats.

I sent Steve an e-mail today to the address on his site. He told me awhile back to contact him again around the middle of this month. He mentioned that he was planning on doing all of the AB Rabbit orders in the last two weeks of Feb. so IF things haven't changed there shouldn't be much longer of a wait for us.

Like I said though....I sent him an e-mail today just going over again how I wanted my hat and all of the info he needed from me.

By the way is the standard crown height on all AB's 5-1/2"? And is there standard brim dimensions as well or does that all depend on the size of the head? I forgot to ask Steve that in my e-mail. #-o

I think the standard height is 5 1/2...and I think Fedora will adjust the brim to match your face shape. I'm not exactly sure how much he trims off or doesn't trim off though.

i believe steve has standard brim dimensions....i can't remember exactly but for an HJ its:
Brim (front & back): 2 ¾ (2.75) inches
Brim (sides): 2 5/8 (2.625) inches
now if you go and tell steve that you have a considerabley thin and long face, i believe he will trim the brim up so that the it is not so pronounced. if you have a wide face, steve may actually provide a dimensionally larger brim to compensate your features. i've seen discussions regarding this and this was my interpretation of it. the man himself can correct me if i'm wrong. :D

Well, I sent him a good head shot of myself when I ordered my AB Rabbit. By seeing my head shape that should help him determine what will look best for my head.

I do know I want the 5 1/2" crown height. I know that my Fed. Deluxe when it came opened crowned was nearly 6" tall. I like the hat but even now after all the stuff I've done to it I still think it's a little to tall and I think the 5 1/2" would be better. :D

I asked Steve to make the brim on mine about 2.6" wide on the sides - that's about how I had my Akubra cut, and I was really starting to like it. I'm not sure how tall the hat was but I'm sure the AB won't look like a top hat on me. Do we know the standard height of an Akubra Fed regular? They probably differ per each size crown, don't they? Mine was a 55... so nobody else here's gonna have that size. Now my AB will be a 56 - at least that's closer to a more adult size.

I kbnow that the Federation crown height starts at 5 1/2" but is adjusted based on hat size. Steve has a base set of measurements, but will work with you readily so that you get the look you want. That's what's so great about a custom hat!

Good question. I've got two other hats coming my way (hopefully soon)from Fedora that I ordered a couple of weeks before the rabbit deal was announced. I heard from Steve that he should be working on all my hats this month. So I would guess, when I finally get my original pair of AB's, the rabbit I ordered during the rabbit AB sale should only be a week or two behind them. I'll let everyone know when I get the two hats I ordered initially, as that should be the signal that the rabbits will be following along shortly thereafter.

Out of curiosity, what day in Oct did you place your first order (the one bfore the rabbit orders)?

I guess what I really want to know is who here was the last one to receive a hat and about when did they place their order? I'm worried about this 30 week wait rumor that was discribed earlier in the thread.

(Disclaimer: I am well aware that Steve's hats are well worth the wait. Once again, I am prepared to be patient..I just want to know how long I have to be patient for. :D )

I placed my first order, for 1 Brown Beaver felt hat and 1 Gray rabbit felt hat, on October 2nd, I think. The rabbit deal came around in the middle of October, if I remember correctly.

I checked the "AB rabbit or beaver" thread and it looks like the date of the rabbit deal was Oct. 26. That was a very "Indy" day for me as I ordered my wested that morning and saw the AB deal when I was posting about ordering my jacket. Couldn't pass it up. I'm dying to get my hat! I hope I get it before I go to Disney for spring break.

I ordered my AB Sept. 16. Emailed Steve Feb 7, and he said he expected to get to my hat in "7-10 days", so I expect to hear any day now that my lid has been shipped.

I hope to post, with pics, as soon as my new AB arrives...

As far as the Ab Rabbits go I jumped on the deal right away and I still have the PM's I sent Fedora. So it looks like it was around the 26th or 27th of October, 2006.

The last I heard from Fedora he was going to start working on the AB Rabbits around the beginning of last week which was Feb 18th or the 19th.

Hope this helps. :)

Bump! I talked to Steve about getting my initials in the hat, and after he addressed that...
Steve wrote:Yeah, I have 6 blocks with rabbit hats on them in the ageing process. I will ship the first ones out this week and then will be shipping rabbits for a few days as I complete them. I think I have 12 to make total.
So good news folks! Hats should be going out pretty soon. Expect them in the next couple weeks or so! :)

That is good news! If those timing estimates hold true, then I should be getting my other hats (that I ordered previous to the Rabbit AB) even sooner! Thanks for the scoop, McFly!!!

AB fedora

I've been waiting since August 8th. I inquired once in December, and was told it would likely be sent just after Christmas. I think he got a huge rush of orders when he announced the pending price increase, so I'll just continue to bide my time.

Yeah, see...it's reports like this, that make me think that my optimism is a bit unwarranted, since you're still hatless and you ordered nearly 2 months before I did. :? Have you checked with Steve recently about your order status?

Is it me, or does it seem like beaver orders are being bumped for the rabbit ones?
Hmm...I hope we aren't getting on Fedora's nerves. If he just made an inferior product, he wouldn't have this many people pulling their hair out. It's a testiment to the quality of his hats.

Hey, that's great. I knew he was working on them but I wasn't sure how long it was going to take. Since I'm a "leap Baby" I technically don't have a birthday this year but my non-birthday is close and it would be nice to get it around that time, maybe a little after.
