Picture taking NOW w/PICS

Post by Indiana Croft »

Went yesterday to have my family photo taken. This guy has a great sence of FUN, thats all I can say, he's awsome at his proffesion.

When my daughter and I went to get my wife the gift certificate for her
b-day we got to talking and he said he'd love to take some pics of me in my gear. Well on yesterday we did just that, while my daughter went to get another shirt she left at the studio I got into my duds. He had me pose in several action like pics and one action shot. He had me up on a rock wall to get some shots looking up at me and then he counted to 3 and I jumped, pic came out real cool.

I was wearing my Wested pants and my goat skin jacket, NH shirt, my Joe Strain whip and my MKVII pouch. Aldens for foot wear. This guy was loven it and my wife was flippin out at the pics, she could see them on his digital camera before I could. He said he didn't have a problem if I scanned the proofs so I could show everyone, but this was a blast to do. I mean we all take pics at arms length, have our family members take pics. But this was a first for me to have a proffesional photographer take pics of me in my full gear. He also said it was the first time he's done anything like it to.

The proofs are neat to look at and it'll be hard to choose which to have done up to have framed.

Anyone else ever have an experiance like this, I'll post the proofs when I can find someone to scan them.

Here are the pics as promissed. Had some fun w/one ot the shots and one he did up in blk&wht.
Enjoy and please let me know your thoughts.

Perhaps because the photographer only gave him the proofs and not a digital copy?

Ya VP I know it sound funny, but how to explain this.

There such a thing here in the States called "copy rights". Theses photos are his property. So when I say I'm going to scan something, I asked his permission if there was any way I could have some pics to show my friends here on COW. He said he had no problem if I scan the 8x11 photo sheet that has about (9) 3x4 photo proofs on it.

If I have my pic taken by a proffesional it's illegal for me to reproduce them for my gain, if I say want another photo of one of the proofs I have to pay for it.

I hope that explains it, if anyone else can say it simpliar go for it, I tend to long winded (even when on the comp).

I have a feeling he didn't realise you were given hardcopy proofs/contact prints and not digital files to review?

They've got copyright laws in Finland too, I'm sure. I suspect Finland's a signatory to the Berne Convention, which is one of the international copyright treaties.

Anyway, (a) sounds like he didn't have the digital photos, and (b) the photographer has more ability to control what goes out of his studio by retaining the digitals or negatives (if it's real film). If I were a professional photographer I'd do the exact same thing.

Great stuff! :) I especially like the color in the first one and the sort of "faded B&W" of the B&W one.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad your enjoying the pics.
Thinking I'm going to scout for the right locale for more pics to be taken, but this time w/some whip action goin on.
This of course will be a project for next year as it's getting to that time of year here in New England.
