Alden Width Sizes
What width size is Harrison's boots? and would anyone happen to have a picture of an EE width boot? (size 11 maybe)I have the standard D width which fits fine but has that pointy toe look. Im considering getting an EE width for a rounder look but I cant find any pictures of it anywhere. Forgive if this has already been addressed, Ive been missing for awhile. Please help.

When I fist started wearing Aldens back in the early 1990's, I wore the "D" width. Last year when I ordered 3 pairs from the store out of San Francisco, I wound up needing "EE". I had to have my older pair of "D" widened as much as the cobbler could. Here's a link to a pic of one of my pairs of 9 1/2 EE.

Are you going to buy shoes for Harrison Ford or yourself? If you are just curious about the size that HF wore, that is one thing. But, if you are going to get a size different from what you should wear, just to look more like the shoes HF wore, you are asking for trouble.
These are very stiff, orthopedic shoes that must be properly fit. If the shoes do not fit you precisely, they will damage your feet. That would be a very expensive lesson to learn, just trying to make your shoes look cool. $300 is a lot of money to spend on a pair of shoes, just to learn that they were not fitted properly and you damaged your feet and in the end, you can not wear them.

I've seen countless threads where somebody has had to tell another member to be careful measuring for these because they can damage your feet if you get the wrong size.
Do it right the first time, buddy - don't mess up your feet; get the ones that fit you well, and you'll be all the better for it.

For what it's worth, I teach at a college literally right around the corner from the New York City Alden shop on Madison Avenue. After about 6 months of enthusiastic lurking on this site and a leather jacket, wested shirt and pants, and an artsee revolver purchased and an Adventurebilt on order (yeah, you guys got me hooked bad . . .), I gave in last week and bought a pair of Aldens. The salesman started talking unprodded about how "Harrison Ford buys his shoes here." He then added emphatically, "size 11 C." The guy seemed to be on the level, and Ford does have a place in NYC, so maybe this is an accurate answer to your question.
As far as Alden sizing goes, I previously owned a couple of pairs of Alden dress shoes prior to my boot purchase and am a big fan of this brand. In my humble opinion, always order your accurate size in Alden's, not up or down. These shoes are made to fit like a glove with very little stiffness or break-in time. The Alden boots in my regular 10 1/2 D fit just as perfectly; man these are great shoes! There are very few handcrafted, American made shoes of this comfort and quality. In fact, Alden may be the last--I heard that Allen Edmonds, another high quality American shoe company, was recently sold and will manufacture some of their product in Italy.
Anyways, this is my first post, and I'm really thankful for finding this site.

In the U.S. all shoe stores have a Brannock device. It measures both the length and width of your feet.
