Here's a pic of a bullwhip I made last week. The handle is hand-turned Osage Orange, or Bois d'Arc. It's a wood typically used for bows. The lash is attached by a threaded bolt that runs several inches into the wood and several inches into the lash. The lash was made entirely of veg-tanned cowhide, with a packed core, 4-plait belly, bolster, and 8-plait overlay. Finished length is 5 ft.
JAS (Joel Sadau) provided the handle, and I'll be making a couple more whips like this for him.
