Ordered Indy Magnoli shirt * 1-6-06 got my shirt now w/pics

Post by Indiana Croft »

Literally, just placed it after acouple of PM's about measurments. It's like ordering a Wested, give him a ton of measurments and hope you did it right.
Color: of course I picked stone.
As soon as it comes in, I'll post pics. Naturally.  nudge, nudge.

Haven't heard from Noel Howard about him getting in more shirts that are closer to my size so Magnoli gets my buisness. If it fits I know I'll go for another in pbble grey. Like that color to. I think I'll ask for color swatches of other colors available for future orders. Hmmm sounds like a
good idea.

1-06-06 Just got my shirt and I have to say that right out of the package the feel was light weight not heavey. I can tell this will be a nice shirt to wear in the warmer temps. Tried it on (of course) and the fit was great.
Maybe a little long in the shoulder but I'll change that on my next shirt.
Hasn't been washed yet so with out futher ado heres some pics.

Thanks Hemingway & Vannevar.
I also own a Wested and a WPG shirt and when I get a chance I'll take side by side photos for color and try to get more detailed.
I had Mr. Magnoli send me some color samples of
cream, light khaki, natural and pebble grey so I can get a feel for which color I'll order next.
I'm leaning towar pebble grey only because I like this color. It's certainetly not a Indy color. But this way I can wear the shirt and not feel like I'm dressing up like Indy. Wait, what am I talking about... I go every were wearing my Wested jacket, Aldens, my Fedora and some time an Indy shirt.
I really like the feel of this shirt. Come on summer.

Very nice, Mr. Croft.
If you like it now, you'll love it later. It softens up a little after going through the wash a time or two, and it'll grow on you the more you wear it. I see what you mean about the shoulders though - how did you order the fit? I ordered mine "fitting" and the shoulders seem fine to me.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, it doesn't shrink much in the wash, but again, it does soften up a little (not that it needs it at all).

Congrats on a wonderful shirt.

It's my personal favorite... just difficult to wear to school, since I'd have to tuck it in.

this shirt looks very good. I hope you'll post some outdoor pics :D

I wonder how the tight fit looks! What sort of fitting you asked for ?

Does it wrinkle enough?

I'm very interested in Magnoli's production

OK well not to sound like a valley girl/guy BUT OH MY GOD like this shirt is so radical, it's like totaly ya know!!!!! 8)

No really I wore it today after washing last night and I've gotta say this shirt felt very comfortable, even though I wore a T shirt underneath (it is winter in NH) not once did it come untucked. So if any one is thinking of getting one of these IM shirts, do it.
I own the Wested and the WPG shirts, heres how I say it runs.
Feels like...
IM: Has a nice cotton shirt feel to it all most like a cotton T shirt.
Wested: Has a nice dress shirt feel, an awsome shirt none the less. Kinda has a cool feel to it.
WPG: Comfortable to wear, rugged. Ya comfortable and rugged says it all.

Rolling up the sleeves.
IM: Perfect, plenty of room in the lower arm area to get past the forearm.
Wested: Kinda tight to get past but once you have it's just fine.
WPG: No problem as theres plenty of room.

Tucking in:
IM: No problem as this shirt is custom, it fits you perfectly and doesn't come un-tucked (I wore mine today and had to put stock away w/plenty of bending and the shirt stayed tucked.
Wested: Once again no real problem all though it will come un-tucked with a alot of movment .
WPG: What can I say that hasn't been said about the WPG and how much material there is, so I'd say it doen't come un-tucked to easily.

Fit
IM: Perfect fit, my measurements were a little off, but there are alot to take, shoulders are little wide making the epuletts a little longer than I think is normal, I even shot off a couple shots of me for the taylor. One front on and one to the side.
Wested: Only offers what sizes he has (S, M, L, X-L) my Wested is a little tight in the shoulder area.
WPG: Plenty of room for two (LOL) no really the shirts a little baggy but feel fine every were.

Color.
IM: very nice match to what one would think Indys shirt would be. (I ordered stone) Allthough the buttons could be a tad lighter.
Wested: Same as above I'd say but with buttons being closer.
WPG: Well this shirt has the same like color to a Military officers shirt, which is to say is just fine in my eyes. A much darker tan/stone.

Erri-wan

Does it wrinkle enough?
Fit is what you order he has several ways to order fit, for me it was loosely fitting, as far as wrinkles I've only washed it once and there was wrinklage!!. I'll try to get some pics of all three out side but I may have to wait for a nicer day. I'll post another thread with those or we'll see how this one is doing.

Hemingway
I would love to see those shirts side by side, and to read your review.
I'll get some pics of all three shirts probaly on Monday.

All im all I'm pleased w/my 1st IM shirt and I know I'll be ordering more (Noel Howard has yet to get back to me) in the near future and I'll be tweaking some measurements as Indy Magnoli keeps your orriginaly sent on file, now thats nice.
Thanks again all, Croft

What colour are Magnoli's raiders shirt buttons? From your pics they look screen accurate. IMO wested light buttons are too light, in riders i see only dark buttons everywhere... who talked about light buttons in Raiders??? Maybe they're ligher than the other films but still dark. My wested buttons are the same colour of the shirt... that's not screenaccurate!

Really erri_wan I didn't know that, then kool my shirt is acurate were the buttons are concerened. Thank you for enlightening me. The color of the buttons are a darkish tan, but not a dark brown by any means. I thought they were fine I just thought Wested shirts button were acurate.
Awsome is all I can say about the IM shirt, I really like it.

Yeah why not

Was it hard to take the measures for the shirt? Anything to suggest to the next Magnoli's customers which will send him their custom measures?

I'd heard that Noel Howard went bust, or close to it and sold his business to Hand and Co.

Doesn't this mean he no longer has the right to make and sell any Indy related Gear?

EDIT: Erri - I could swear that the Raiders buttons are the same as the shirt... somebody find a good pic!

This is the picture I took of the buttons on the Magnoli shirt.
They're a little greener than that in person though.

erri_wan some where theres a thread that shows all the places you need to measure. Even when I had my wife measure shoulder to shoulder and then tahey ask for shoulder to neck it might have just been measurement over load. The shoulders are a liitle wide but the shirt in over all is a perfect fit. Next shirt I order I'll PM Indy Magnoli about shortning the shoulder and will I have to add to the sleeve length.

All I can say is have help having measurements taken, send him pics of you in a T shirt so his taylor will no what you look like "body wise".
And most of all talk to hime via email or Pm through this site. He was very helpful and if and when he reads this thread. Thank you.
I should go to his site and put my responses in.

Indy Mcfly you were correct it feels so soft, do you agree with my description above about it feeling like a T shirt, I should have "but a little more weight than a T shirt.

I'll find TONS of pics for you! When i'm back home

See you later

Image Image Image Image Image

I repeat i'm not saying they are really dark but a wee darker then the shirt yes

not mentioning the pants buttons in this scene

Image

are light colour. I think the same shirt colour. In the same scene shirt buttons are same colour of the shirt itself. So i guess that in the airplane cockpit we see a testing gear since they put the same buttons both for pants and shirts.... but the rest of the scenes we see darker colour buttons on shirt and not as cream as Wested makes them for their shirts.

BACK ON TOPIC i believe Magnoli's shirt buttons colour are more screen accurate although he might think of using another colour shade (i hope shade is the correct word for it). They must be slightly lighter but he's on the right way

I just switched from a T-shirt to my Magnoli shirt right now... not much difference, save for the weight. Good description!

In fact, I'd like to go off that for a second and say that you can't feel any threads or stitching while wearing it. It's extremely comfortable.

Shane

My next magnoli shirt:

Same color.
3 inches less through the chest.
1 inch more in the sleeves.
2 inches shorter overall.
5 1/2 inch epaulettes, (right now they measure 6 1/2 inches, or 16.5 cm.)
Grey buttons if possible.

Dont get me wrong, I like how this one fits, but I would like my next to be a bit more form fitting.
