Finally got me Aldens

Post by matei »

After waiting forever for Parcelfarce to deliver my shoes, they are finally here!

They are heavier than I expected, but nice all the same. I have ample "wiggle room" in my toes, and appear to fit as my other shoes do - the only difference is that they are a wee bit wider.

The colour is not as orange as I was expecting them to be, which is a good thing! I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Okay, I can't find the camera (just back from holiday and have yet to unpack) but I can give a review!

First, they came in an old, dusty and decrepit box. The box was literally falling apart! No bother, the boots looked fine. In daylight they have more of a russet colour than the orange-y colour I've seen on others. They aren't as heavy as I expected - they are lighter then a pair of Docs I had a few years back.

I made the mistake of showing them to the wife while wearing a brown pinstriped suit (just home from work and couldn't resist). Bad move. But with my Wested trousers they look great.

I darkened them up with a coat of Trickers polish. This darkened the bright white threads and took some of the brightness out of the russet hued leather.

The fit? Well... they are a 10.5EE, and they are a bit longer than I expected. My big toe comes right in the middle of the moc stitching. If I force my foot (really force it) it can slide around a wee bit, but that is how my other shoes fit as well. The good thing is that they are wide enough where my little toe isn't trying to poke a hole in the side of the shoe!

I wore them to work today, and they proved to be very comfy. They are a well made shoe. Each step is soft and cushioned, I feel like I'm walking on rubber cushions! Arch support is welcomed as well.

I also like the support that a boot gives around the ankle.

In any event, I really like them and I consider that they were worth the wait. My only concern is getting replacement soles/heels and how long it will take to wear them out!
