Here's mine. It's an authentic bag from WPG with a deluxe strap from Todd's Costumes.

Anyhow, here they are;
2 G. & S. Ltd. bags, one of them mint (the star of the pocket making tutorial) and the other one the first genuine Mk VII of mine... with a stripe on it.

LINK 2
*Edit - URL probably too long to make an image, links posted instead.
2 and 3 are Canadian bags, number 1 is the striped one mentioned earlier. (A friend of mine is now holding on to number 3.)

The final one is an R.M.A. 1942 bag with now fixed holes in the front. (Very thin fabric and the "floppiest" I've handled yet.)

A redyed WPG replica with snaps replaced, now in the hands of another friend of mine;

I also own a Mk VI with a busted, but fixed in a modern way, snap.
So.. That's 4 Mk VII bags that I currently have. Still looking for a mint one with Newey snaps, the desert version, an Australian one, and Indian one and... See, there's no end to it. I just haven't gotten around to it lately.

Swindiana (Cheers to SJ for the nice comment)

Hey, Lukmas' last pic reminded me of my striped MkVII I got from SoF! I don't even know where it is right now... in order to get rid of that cursed stripe, did some heinous experiments involving a lot of chemicals... stripe disappeared and re-emerged in a mysterious, almost magical way.
Anyway, seeing that pic brought it all back... that old bag of mine looks just as cruddy - sorry, distressed - as Luke's prime specimen!![:wink:](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)

I have an original Mark vll from 1942. It say RMA inside. I purchased mine in 1971. I don't have the heart to remove the original canvas strap.
I purchased one from WPG and the leather strap smelled so bad, I had to immerse it in a bath of odor remover for 24 hours. It still smelled after all this.
It has been a year now and the strap has finally lost the horrorific odor. How do you rationalize removing the strap off a prized bag? I've had mine for over 30 years.![Rolling Eyes :roll:](./images/smilies/Indy-rolleyes.gif)

I can say I had this exact problem, and I sovled it by unstitching the strap so as not to destroy it. It made me feel better about doing th job. here is mine, it's a WPG-bag (replica), distressed with a TAG-strap. The snap fasteners have been changed (from those with patterns on to plain ones):
