Yes, they do!

http://www.aldenshoe.com/store.php?region=EU&locale=IT

However they don´t have the 405 :(

That was the situation last time I looked into it 1,5 years ago.

Best regards

That's quite stupid isnt it???

Why dont we do a petition asking them to offer the 405???? There are so many europeans in this forum that would be very interested i think.

Right on!

I checked, and there is a shop in Oslo (my capital, which I am destiny to be in sometime...), however suspects the question about Indy shoes would just make some snobby shoe pusher go blank (Oh, I'am happy to make excuses if being wrong!).

General speaking, anybody buy those shoes from a shop anytime at all? Like Indy propably did... :-)

You can always say "i'm looking for the 405" without saying anything about INDY

I went through the same thing a couple years ago when looking for my Aldens - in the end I decided there was NO retailer for the 405 boot in Europe and ordered mine from Renners in Kansas. Great service from Renners, but I was really stung on the import tax to the UK! Around £40 if I remember rightly.

What was the price of the boots from Renners in Kansas?

I ordered through Allen White on their website in the states. I cant remember if I asked the package to be marked gift or not or if they will do that. That prevents import tax.

I'll ask the same for sure, anyway i don't think that it's a matter of what yo usend because when i received my boots from usa i didnt pay anything but my first Adventurebilt costed me 42 euro of taxes. My theory is that import office check packages sometimes, maybe often, but not always... whateve there is written on them (also the AB was marked gift as well as the boots)

Taxe was due for the TVA in France : I had to pay my government because i bought something out of France ! I think it's available above a certain price.

So Erri if you have an Alden retailer in italy (land of shoes), i suggest you calling them... if you want some 405 of course.

The main reason they don´t have the 405 is that it is considered a "custom-made" shoe, and can´t be solded "of the rack".

Regarding Alden Store´s capability to "devalue" a shipment, there are
only a limited option.
When I ordered mine, all Allan White would agree to was a 10% devaluing - not much, and the final price before I had the shoes in my
hands was $360

i dont think you have to pay taxes for shipments from Europe, that's why i hope there is an Alden dealer selling the 405 in Europe, these #### taxes kill us european gearheads.

I didn't think about it! I found we have a lot shops here (Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Como, Padova, Torino, Roma and Verona)... i'll call each of them for sure hoping one of them has the 405!

That is corrent it should not be allowed as there is supposed to be Free of Movement of Goods within the EU.

However if you are unable to get the 405s through a European dealer then you will have to deal directly with America.

I dont know if its possible to contact Allen White with exactly what you want and then ask to have it sent via a local dealer. Probably not but in your case worth asking.

I'm in contact with him ... i could ask that but i think he wouldnt allow it. They are a shop and interested in their own business of course. There is no reason they would sent it in Europe for me ehehe

I talked to Mortan A. Hagen back in May of 2004 when I was searching for Alden's. They told me they didn't carry the style but he recommended me to check with Edourd Meier in Munich. They said they were likely to get the Indy boot in by September. Before that I had found my boots elsewhere.
It might be worth a shot though, just to se if you'd be cheaper off than ordering from abroad;

It doesn't seem there are any Alden's listed, but drop him I line.

I hope he does stock them, being in the EU should curb any potential customs charges. I've been lucky so far, but you never know.

No news from Germany indyjens?

This morning i contacted all the italian shops which sell Aldens. Only one had the 405 ("Sir Wilson" shop in Torino) but he only had them in other colours but brown. The shopkeeper told me those shoes will be back in stock in september. They order Alden shoes only once a year. Quite rare arent they?
Well i don't know if i can wait till septermber

Tried to call them again and again during the last week. Seems their X-mas/New Year-holidays are a little longer than mine ...

I'll try it again. And again. And again. And ...

Sorry. I last called them 1 and a half week ago, but still didn't receive an answer.

Since then, I must admit, I did not give them a call. Again - sorry (I'm very busy at the moment, 'cause I'm reaching the end of my study now).

I call them again. Tomorrow. I promise. :D

I emailed Browns in South Moulton Street in London, they are listed as Alden resellers on the Alden site.

They don't carry the 405's and when I asked if they could do me a special order that apologised and said I should probably order online :( oh well another dead end!
