Caring for your Bullwhip?

I was given a whip, from a kind benifactor, inorder to create my costume for my Indiana Jones fan film. I just wondered if anyone knows the best hints and tips about looking after a whip. What products (e.g. polishes) to use etc.

This a question often asked on this section of the forum. May I suggest using the search button with tokens, "whip" "care". There a plenty of threads that in detail explain all the methods used for cleaning.

I think that Pecard is the best leather dressing available.

Yeah Pecards is best but you can use every leather dressing with bees wax.
Dont use oils.

Also, you have a rare opportunity, if you want to have a reference work for care of your whip...Paul Stenhouse is having a 'firesale' on his Whip Maintenance DVDs/videos, if you want to know a bit more than just what to use on it.

Read the "Bullwhip FAQ"; Morgan and Mike Murphy have good info on cleaning and care, as well. As Sergei noted, there's a wealth of info here in this forum. One thing I'd like to add is, crack your whip! As long as your whip is not an antique or 'wall hanging', quality whips love to be taken out and cracked. They get sad and lonely if you just leave them on a shelf.

Luke, Just to back up what has already been said, Search the forum here and check out the other sites mentioned. The Bullwhip FAQ is a pretty good site too 8) you’ll probably find what you need know, no worries.

What kind of whip did you get, if you don’t mind me asking?
