I think the holster has not the authentic shape. Here is a picture of my original Webley MkVI holster:

Last Crusader,
That original holster you posted compares in shape to the replica one I got from IMA . Although I like the color of yours much better than mine, which is much lighter in color.
Is that still the original finish? If so I have some work to do with my repro.
Thanks for posting the picture.

Why is the Webley holster $29.95 while the basic Raiders S&W holster is still near 50 bucks? I'd love to get a decent Raiders holster for my S&W Victory, but I guess I'm just not willing to lay down around 75 clams for a holster. Has anybody ever tried to modify an IMA Webley holster?
I also think Todd's Webley holster looks a little off. Not that I'm knocking his work, especially since I don't have any of his stuff, but the IMA Webley holster is the same price and looks better made by what the pictures show me.

Bink, you'd have to do some major chopping on the Webley holster for it to fit your Victory. Your best bet is to get a Keppler Raiders version. A K-frame Smith with a 4 inch barrel fits perfectly in that holster, since there are two holes in the strap to adjust the flap for use with either the N OR K frame Smith revolvers.

I wonder if ITG ever sold the Victory flap holster she had on sale on ebay a couple of weeks ago. If I had known you were looking for something, I could have hooked you up there.
The Kepplers pop up on occasion in the classified section for a good price now and again. If I spot one, I'll let you know.

Yep, she did and I missed it. It slipped under the radar at half the price I saw one go for last week.Michaelson wrote:I wonder if ITG ever sold the Victory flap holster she had on sale on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
Anyway, the Victory replica from IMA is a great Indy holster for my Model 13. I'm just going to have to modify it to fit a regular belt.

Howdy all!
Glad you noticed the new holster! I would really appreciate feedback on the design before I have any more made. Those of you who thinks it doesn't look like a standard Webley holster are right - it's not. In my mind there's no reason to replicate what IMA already offers. If you look at the screencaps from LC on my webley holster page, you will see that it is not a standard Webley holster hanging from his belt (oh, yes, I also noticed Ford wearing a BROWN web belt in the tank scenes). If anyone can come up with better screengrabs, I would love to see them so I can offer the most authentic holster possible.
As to price, I'm working on that. I agree, fifty or seventy-five bucks is too much for a holster. I hope to bring all of my holsters down to less than $30 by having them made overseas. The company I am using is actually an age-old supplier to the British military, so it is very likely that they made the original Webley holsters!
I will greatly appreciate any critique/feedback on the holster design! In the meantime, if you want a standard Webley holster, go for the IMA and have any shoe repair shop dye it dark brown for you.
Todd

Todd, I salute your work on getting prices down, but whatever you do (and I KNOW I'm preaching the choir here) DON'T scrimp on quality. A lot of us use these holsters for actual firearms carry, and there are several out there that are GREAT costume pieces, but nothing I'd EVER consider trusting my loaded firearm in. If you can serve both 'worlds', and keep it within reach financially, then go man, go!!

I'd love to see someone develop an affordable Raiders Holster and also a version to fit the Model 10 *hint hint*binkmeisterRick wrote:Why is the Webley holster $29.95 while the basic Raiders S&W holster is still near 50 bucks? The IMA Victory Repo would be PERFECT for my S&W 13, if it was modified to fit a regular belt. (workin on it)...

Amen, my Brothers! I love my Model 10, but I hate fooling with the old pistol belts. For now I use a British 37 Pattern belt and short-drop tankers holster. I really like that rig, but I want an Indy-esque holster eventually.Alabama Jones wrote:I'd love to see someone develop an affordable Raiders Holster and also a version to fit the Model 10 *hint hint*binkmeisterRick wrote:Why is the Webley holster $29.95 while the basic Raiders S&W holster is still near 50 bucks? Have either of you considered some kind of adapter that would slide on a regular belt but have a couple grommets to accomodate the old style belt hanger on the Victory model holster? I've considered that and figured it couldn't cost much to commission from a decent leather worker, but I've never followed up on it.
The alternative, of course, it just to put a couple grommets into a leather belt for the hanger, but then you can't adjust where the holster sits on the belt.

Todd, if you could make a good Raiders holster with barrel plug and all for the 40 dollar mark, even, that would be enough for me to buy one! But I agree with Michaelson, make sure the quality is solid.
As for the Model 10, my understanding is that the Keppler will accomodate the Model 10/Victory because of the second strap hole (are you listening, Todd ) which is why I'd love to afford a Keppler holster.

Todd,
Will your new S&W Raiders holsters be like your current deluxe holster with the barrel plug and double grooves? And for the "$30 dollar range" you're aiming for? If so, what's your hoped E.T.A. for these -- I want one!
And yes, I'm one of those who plan to house a real S&W in it, even if it is a Victory...

"...even if it is a Victory"?! Victory models are awesome! There's a reason the Model 10 has been in production longer and in higher numbers than just about any other handgun! And the Victory model is a little slice of history! I will never apologize for loving my Model 10...except that I wish it was a Victory model.binkmeisterRick wrote:And yes, I'm one of those who plan to house a real S&W in it, even if it is a Victory...

Don't. The Victory, though a revolver steeped in history, was for the most part, a rushed production model that Smith created to send for the Lend/Lease program to England and it's allies during the war. It was also carried by Army Air Corp pilots. The quality control was pretty spotty, and it's fit and finish awful, as it was the black/greenish parkerised color. The one I owned had one chamber miss bored, and instead of hitting the barrel centered, the bullet hit the forcing cone, splitting lead out both sides of the revolver, and the round would keyhole into the target everytime the gun was fired in that position. I traded that gun off to a ww2 collector faster than you can imagine!
So, for a collector, the Victory model is a MUST, but as a carry revolver, I'd recommend your standard model 10 or a prewar MP model 10 any day for regular use.
Not putting binks gun down, as it's still a fine collector piece, but just wanted to offer that angle on the discussion of the gun.

Mojave, I don't hate my Victory at all. I like it for the historical value and I think it's a fun little plinker, too. What I meant was that since the 1917 is a large frame revolver compared to the Voctiry/Model 10, the later would rattle around a bit in the larger holster. That's why there's a second strap hole, it helps keep the Victory in place in that holster!
I would, however, love to own a 1917 someday.

I absolutely love my Model 10. My wife was convinced she wanted an auto for concealed carry (she loves my Colt Commander, but it is certainly not practical for concealed carry), but I kept insisting she wanted a revolver. Then she found that she really doesn't have the strength to jack a round in most autos. When I pointed out the problems of misfires in a panic situation, she decided maybe a revolver wasn't so bad. Misfire, no problem! Just pull the trigger again! Now she has a Model 37 Airweight. I only got the Model 10 so we could share ammo when we went to the range. Up 'til then I had only my Commander, and didn't really think I wanted anything else...
I was thinking the same thinking about it rattling around in a holster, and the cost of a Keppler made me balk, too. I'm glad to see others with a need for a holster to fit the Model 10!
Of course, a 1917 would be nice....

I'd like to have a 1917 as well , but maybe someday I will at least have the distant cousin, a Model 28 to fill out a Raiders Holster.

I'm a little confused about the "second hole" on the Keppler. Don't Todd's and TAG's have that as well?

I think the biggest problem with carrying a K frame revolver in the standard Raiders holster is the fact that the holster is designed for a substantially larger revolver.
There seems to be quite a bit of interest in a Raiders holster for medium frame revolvers. Maybe one of our great vendors will decide to offer a scaled down version of their standard holster.
