Just wanted to let you guys know that the long-sleeved LL Bean Cotton Poplin Field Shirts are on sale for $18.00(reg 36 IIRC).
There isn't a picture or a link on the website, which is why I thought that they didn't offer them any more this season or were completely out of stock.
But through customer service, I found out that they did indeed still have them and if you enter the item number 10937, it'll take you straight to it.
Thanks once again and yes, you need to enter the code 10937 in the search and it will come up. They have plenty of sizes and colors. I ordered one and I think Renderking ordered one or two.
I owned one a while back and it was a pretty good shirt. Sturdy to a fault. The color was a bit off. It's a piece of @#$% compared to say, a Wested shirt, or an original NH shirt. But for the price, it's a pretty decent shirt. :junior: -IJ

Yes, tan for an Indy shirt. That is the closest color that LL Bean offers. It doesn't come in a stone color. Too bad that it doesn't. It is a great shirt, but just a little too tan for the proper Indy color. It is still a very good "close enough". Maybe if you wear it a lot and it fades some from washing, it will look better and better.

There is no picture on the site and it is indeed the tan one. It is not perfect, but look at the picture of me in sunlight and it is very very close.
How's the fit? I'm between a large and extra-large, though usually larges fit mo' better. They're out of the large in tan so I'm considering an extra large. How are LL Bean's sizes generally? Shrinkage?

Not to complicate matters too much, but there are also "Tall" sizes. If you need more sleeve, as I do, this might work for you. I am 200 lbs. and 6'2" I have an XL, and XL Tall and a L Tall. The large Tall fits the best in the Indy style, though it is a little tighter than I would normally wear a shirt. I hope this helps.
LLBean's linen is not the softest on the market. I own two linen shirts of theirs and I find it rather coarse on the inside. I usually wear a white cotton t-shirt underneath to make it feel more comfortable.
Now, on the cotton poplin field shirts, I really like the pockets because they are really functional. The pleat will expand and allow you to stuff more thing in there.
I have the Wested and L.L. Bean field shirts, both in large, and for me the Bean shirt has a much looser fit overall. The Wested, while roomy in the shoulders, is slightly trimmer through the body, more like a dress shirt. The tails on the Wested are also just a bit shorter than the Bean. Also, the fabric on the Wested is lighter, almost like Filson's featherweight poplin, so if you live in a real warm climate the Wested might feel a bit more comfortable.
Yes, they are quite room. I were a medium in most shirts, and I had to drop to a small in L.L. Beans. The small could be a teeny bit looser for me, but it is form fitting like the Raiders shirt!
Wow, glad I got the Medium/tall and not a Large (which they were out of) The shoulders are pefect, the tail is very long and the chest and waist are pretty big on me it looks like. Sleeves are a good length though.
I just received a couple of the Large-Tall shirts, and I'm quite happy with the fit overall. I've been in the process of collecting what seems like one example of each type out there, and these seem like a quite reasonable warmer weather shirt, certainly more comfortable in higher temperatures than the Orvis bush shirt.
Anyone have experience with the Tilley Endurable's shirt in warmer climates?
Their delivery time was excellent. I received my Large Tall in two days to Boston. There really is no reason to pay for expedited shipping with them. The shirt is great. I have already begun breaking it in. I would also like to get one of each type of shirt offered.
Bean shoirts usually fit me larger than usual and I usually get an XXL for the fit, but I chose XL this time. It should fit well, but I always get nervous.

Actually, I was born and raised in Pennsylvania, so my speech is halfway between the two.
It is very easy to start picking up the local accent. I go to Mobile, Alabama every few years and if I am there for a week or so, the "Y'all's" and "All Y'all's" start coming out without thinking about it. Mostly, people tell me I speak like a Kennedy. I am hoping John F. and not Teddy or Joan. Maybe Teddy after I have had a few, but I still drive better
I live in NC and "y'all" is not a part of my vocabulary, I've never said it unless I was joking with someone who said it in a particularily ridiculous manner.
And I've been around people that usually say it every other sentence, go figure.

That is a good point. I usually wear an XL for the same reasons: sleeves and shoulders. I have an XL in the Indy shirt and it fits, but not really like an Indy shirt. The Large Tall however, fits very well; much more snug.
I really like these shirts. They are very well made, tough, and comfortable.
I wonder if anyone from LL Bean has taken notice that a product that is not on the website and not in their current catalogue has suddenly had a huge percentage increase in sales.
