I'd think if you sprayed it down really well with some Scotchguard, it would withstand a rainshower easily. I don't know that I'd take it rafting, but I'd wear it in a hard rain with a good coat of Scotchguard. That's what I put on my LL Bean Field Coats when I wear them hunting anyway....and they're canvas.
Not the original precious Mk VII. I wouldn’t let a single drop of water hit my precious. If you’re talking about the WPG bag that’s fine as there is a (for all intense and purposes) endless supply of those, while original Mk VII’s are like gold dust now.
Actually, I think those are DRAIN holes for when they get water IN them...the water can get out easier with those holes in it. Otherwise, that tight weave canvas might hold the water....

Are you serious?!
I wash mine all the time. She's still in perfect shape!
I mean, C'mon, they were made for WAR. I think they could stand up to a few drops of water.

P.S. Dyed it too... TWICE!
Still in amazing shape! Tougher than H.E.L.L.
Definitely tough. I've had mine soaked in some seroius downpours, and the inside as always stayed dry, no scotchgaurd or any sealant, it seems that the canvas tightens up after the first soak, much like a canvas tent would. They are pretty resilient.

I am with the Ape on this one if we're talking about the originals. However, what about the WPG's? I've only had mine ina light rain and it's just fine.
Does anyone have some experience with the WPG in rain? Or, does anyone own one of each and is able to relate if the construction is similar enough to make a fair assuption that the WPG would hold up in "war," much less the rain?
