My goodness am I glad Aldens are built like tanks

Post by S William »

Hey,

I haven't posted for a while, and I haven't seen prices on the 405's until recently, and my oh my Aldens have gone up higher than I'd ever imagine over the past four years! I bought mine brand new four years ago for $175, whats this $100 price jump $280 ( I know it's happened gradually roughly $25 a year increase).

Other than the fact that I've had a re-heel and a partial re-sole, the tops have held up very well. I hope to get another six years out of these babies.

These shoes will never be found on the bargain rack :-). If you can buy a pair now, keep them in the box for another four years, you could make double on your investment. Wow, a shoe that goes up in value!

Well, got to go

Hmm... I bought mine three years ago for $245. $280 you say? What's the deal with these shoes??? They're like postage stamps.

They're like postage stamps.
Except they taste worse when you lick 'em.

Obviously, Alden knows they have interested parties and price accordingly. Once, the manufacturer knows there's a special market for their product, it's over!

In the words of Steve Martin in The Jerk, "So it's a profit thing!".

Move over bricks and mortar - here comes Leather and Neoprene! :)

I must admit I do love my Aldens - the more you wear them, the better they feel and therefore the more valuable to you!

Regards,

Al

Today I went to the orthopedic store where I ordered my Aldens (I needed to get a metatarsal support insole cause I got funky feet). As one of the salespersons was helping me out, another saleswoman looked over and saw my Aldens. "Wow, those are a couple years old, aren't they?" The woman helping me had perviously looked at my records and said, "No, they were ordered last summer." Can you tell they've already seen TONS of use?
