MkVII - Which Color do YOU Prefer?

Post by McFly »

Spawned because of the "Tough to be Green" thread, I'd like to ask you all a question of preference, and maybe a bit of screen accuracy debate, but let's keep this topic fresh, not something that's been discussed before (unless this has been discussed before... in which case I'll be given a link and this won't go anywhere).

Do you prefer the green or tan colored MkVIIs?

Why?

Would you consider trading a green one with me for my tan WPG? :P

In Christ,
Shane

If you dont like your tan WPG you could always dye it? I know there's been a few threads on doing this. Swindy had a good one once when he dyed a WPG (correct me if I'm wrong, it was a long time ago).

oh bugger... that's been discussed before. I already broke the rules.

I like the green more, but there's a multitude of scenes where it looks tan and others look much more green. I guess from the multitude (that's my word for the day) of bags used and the multitude of light effects, create the differences. My personal favourite is my MkVI (yep that's a 6, dont flame me!) which is a perfect blend of the two. In some lights its a greenish tan, then others its a tannish green.

Well, Merrick. I'm multitudly impressed with your good memory.

I did dye mine quite some time ago. Only once though, and not a multitude of times. Wait, you didn't say that I did. :D

Here is a plethora of pics of it:

I like mine to be right in the middle - tan with a hint of green, or green with a hint of tan....

I like the faded green look you get with the old mkviis. Thats actually one of the major problems I had with the WPG repro bags, they didn't fade enough and they ended up looking too green. The fade is key.

Yup; you can't beat the faded green of a real MKVII.

Hey, actually, you can't beat a real MKVII, period.

The paler the green, the better, for me. I'm not a fan of green, screen accurate ot not... anyway, Indy's bag always looked tan to me.

I've been washing my MKVII's a lot to get rid of the green. ...and the stank.

I like the Tanis(h) ones.
I have one of last years WPG bags & a Real Whiteley bag and they are almost the same color. Both have rifle sling straps.

I have a rather lovely unissued green MkVII. 8)

It's great that it's unissued and all, but the used ones that have faded a bit are the best. They look more Indy and have more history. Always nice with a bit of Egyptian dust in there too...
