I'm afraid you're going to have to count me out on the shirt deal, though it's an incredible offer to make! I went to Wal-Mart tonight and saw the shirt. The color is nice and I like the feel of it. However, when I tried both a medium and a large on for size, neither one fit me right. The medium fit me well in the shoulder and sleeves, but not in the neck, while the large had a comfortable neck but was too big everywhere else. hat, and it just didn't look right on me. This may not be an issue for anyone else, but the pockets are also placed too low on the shirt for me.

It just goes to show how I rarely find a shirt which fits me perfectly. I hope it works out well for the rest of you, though! Thanks anyhow, Deadlock!

Hey Bink, it IS all cotton, after all. mAybe a large can shrink down to a perfect fit??

BTW, when is this shirt special going to go into the works?? I'm ready to order one today. I'm and XL, and when you say the word, I'll get that Paypal to you.

Whoa, take a couple days off, look what I miss! A fan shirt gets completed and a whole new cottage industry is already off the ground!

My Wally shirts just showed up in the mail, too. Like em the way they are, so I may shell the $35 just to keep these two for myself...I was going to do the sewing myself, but Mrs. Deadlock is a hard act to follow...and fast, too! :)

Deadlock, if we ship you a shirt + shipping, that's about 29 from you plus 4 for us to ship for you...33...or just 37 + 4 = 41 to get it direct from you? yeah, for $8 more I'll save myself a trip to the PO...
binkmeisterRick wrote:Colby, what is your neck and sleeve measurement and how do they measure up against the large of this shirt? I like a size 16 neck, but then the rest of the shirt can get pretty big on me. bink
Bink - I wear a large, always do, and these nailed it. I usually pick up a 18/35-36 (neck/sleeve), and I'm a 43-44 chest. These say L-42-44 on them, and that looks right. I also need a little more in the sleeve, but these work. Little extra in the sleeve so they should still fit me after shrinking. The nail JUST closes on me, though, so it won't after washing. Not that we wear ties in California...

Yeah, I tried on the large with the idea that it might be able to shrink enough... It still won't work. The medium says it has a 38-40 chest (which is what I need) but the neck is too tight. (The large neck feels good, but then I swim in the rest of the shirt.) Even so, since I'm only 5'4.5" the pockets on the medium hang too low on me. They make me look silly.

I could have the pockets moved up, but then you'd be able to tell where they previously were. I'm even to the point that if a shirt from Goodwill doesn't look right on me, I won't pay the 3 bucks for it. I've grown to be picky. It'll probably be fine for the rest of you, but the fit isn't right for me.

I really wish the medium looked right on me because I'd love to have one of these shirts!!!!

Sorry about the slight rate hike when we purchase. Our local WalMart seems to carry all Med. & Small, so we have to cover shipping to us from Wally Central.

I can honestly say that I never expected to be buying so much clothing from WalMart....and none of it in my size!

Bink - Hunh. Okay, sounds like the neck runs a bit small in all the sizes, then. Might not be an issue for everybody, but I guess it's a point worth-noting.

Of course, if we never wear a tie, it just helps keep it look heroically open...

I went to Walmart today looking for these shirts, but no luck :(

I guess they aren't available here in the Great White North. Although a Wested shirt is on the way, I may have to consider one of these Deadlock shirts..they DO look great!

Sure sure, blame the shirt.

Actually I have a similar problem. A large shirt would fit with the exception of my 18" neck(which would require Walmarts XXL). I'll probably go with an XL since I don't think I'll ever button the top button and then have someone take in the shirt.

It's my neck size, really. I'm just not a standard size. And as for looking silly.... well, Jess, I can't help it. I was born this way.

I don't know, Jess, did you try the large? I wear a 18 neck, and it just fits, but it ain't the most comfortable. Oh, but it's going to shrink, that's right. Yeah, if you plan to close the top button, a Large probably won't work for you once you wash it.

Quick questions regarding the pencil pocket:
Is it screen-accurate?
Which side of the shirt is it on (or both)?
Pocket to the inside (shirt button side) or the outside (sleeve side) of the pocket?

Image

Thanks, boys.

I believe it's on the left pocket(while wearing) and on the left side of the pocket.

...on the left side of the pocket - also when wearing it, or when looking at it? If you put it on the leftside of the left pocket, it's in your armpit! Is that really how it is? :? Every pen pocket I've ever had is on the rightside of the left pocket.

D'OH!! What I meant to say, is it's the left pocket, while wearing, but on the left side of the pocket, while looking at the guy wearing it.......
I'm just kidding, I made a mistake. Indy Jerry is correct
Pen pocket is on the left shirt pocket (while wearing) towards the center of the shirt.

It looks like you've corrected the pocket shape to be more square and screen accurate instead of the angles on the bottom.

Sorry to get your hopes up but... that picture is of another shirt (the Noel Howard, I believe). I just posted it as a reference so when I said "pencil pocket" everybody knew what I meant. I can't square up the bottom of the pocket without making them too short. Sorry. :?

Anyway, I'll be adding in the pencil pocket to the right side of the left pocket (WHILE WEARING :D), unless there are any objections.

I got it!

This shirt is amazing, and Mrs Deadlock did a fantastic tailoring job. It looks exactly like the pictures, and the pencil pocket is great. I highly recommend this shirt to everyone. I will post pics if desired but like I said the previous pics are the same as the shirt I received. Again, great job!

Here you go Colby:

http://www.geocities.com/menrnotpigs182 ... kShirt.JPG

The shirt was ironed and the flash on the camera was on, so this isn't the best picture. It looks alot whiter in the picture than in real life. For a comparison of color, it is EXACTLY SPOT ON to Cabela's Safari Shirt. Also because of the iron the pleats don't show up as well. I need to throw it in the wash and wear it around to get it more lived-in looking.

Again, I am ESTATIC about this shirt! Top notch job! I am going to go post my llbean in the classifieds now...

Texas Jones,
That shirt looks great. The pockets are a tad off, but that's not a real detraction. I like how tight it is in the body.

What about the pockets? I am looking at the shirt pics off the Indygear shirt page and my pic side by side and can't tell the difference, except that the WalMart shirt might have larger pockets? Other than that, I am stumped. :-k

Sizing?

Post by Flix4Me »

To those who have received their shirts, I would like to know your opinions on sizing. Do you recommend size Medium for an accurate look on a Harrison Ford'ish 40" chest build? (ROTLK) Should I be concerned about shrinkage, or are the shirts pretty stable?

The other day at Wal-Mart, I strolled past the rack that had the mod-able shirts, hoping that there would be more. I was pleased to see a bunch more "sidewalk" colored shirts! Unfortunately, as I picked one up, I discovered what Texas was talking about in this post:
Texas Jones wrote:The shirt in person seems to have larger pockets, and the material is very thick. Almost like a jeans shirt (which they have too, almost just like this shirt except demin color). I just doesn't look right in person.
It is the EXACT some cut, color, and price... but the fabric is MUCH heavier in one of them. Besides the weight of the fabric, the tags on the two shirts are different... the tag on the lighter weight shirt is blue, the tag in the heavier shirt is made of leather. Looks like the same snafu is happening on the Wally-World website too.

Shirt 1

Shirt 2

I haven't been able to match the item number from the shirts I've bought from Wal-Mart and what I'm seeing on the website. But from what I can tell, Shirt 2 lists a 1 pound shipping weight, as opposed to Shirt 1 which has a 1.5 pound ship weight. So, since I have to guess... I would order Shirt 2 online.

Just wanted you to be aware of the heavyweight sibling to the Indy candidate shirt.

Hahaha...it gets worse.

I ordered mine online...I created a Walmart account...(don't ask)...going back into my order which is still on record, I can pull up those shirts again, and it isn't EITHER of the product numbers you showed there - it is a THIRD one: 2646410. (Your links are for product numbers 2646404 and 2693601.)

Here is THAT link:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=2646410

Now, if it helps at all, the link Colby originally supplied when this started referenced product number 2646404 - your Shirt 1 - and that's what I did order from...not sure why it's different in my record. Perhaps they have a couple pools of the same product w/ different product numbers (maxing out at 10,000 each, maybe?).

The adds for the original Colby found (404) and my reference number (410) look pretty much like the exact same product ad to me. The other add (601 - Shirt 2) doesn't have the logo on the ad, and they show a different example. I think that's the odd one out, and I'd bet a quarter it's the heavier one.

So I'd say you can buy 404 (shirt 1), or this third one - 410, and you'd get the originals. That 601 I think is the other one - the product number is even further off than the last two digits, while the other two only differ by a value of 6.

(Who feels like ordering one of each for fun? Nah...me neither.)

Tangent, back to the original topic...now that I've worn these...I really like them as is. I don't think I'm gonna modify mine. (What a goober I can be.) Maybe if I do something stupid to one and rip it or stain it, then I'll cut it up, but gosh, I just really like these $10 shirts. Oh, great, I'm Rainman. "Walmart...all my clothes come from Walmart...excellent value...Raiders is on at 4..."

I have ordered both of the shirts that Dreadlock listed. I know it sounds crazy, but the shirt that he listed as shirt 1 is the lightweight shirt. It has a listed shipping of 1.5 lbs. and the item number is 002320573. This is the shirt that you want to order as an Indy shirt.

The shirt that was listed as shirt 2 is a heavier material and some type of brushed cotton. It is a nice shirt, but not the kind of cotton poplin material that we are looking for. It has a listed shipping weight of 1.0 lbs. and the item number is 002333651.

So the one with the heavier shipping weight is the lighter weight shirt, go figure. It just shows you that they put estimated shipping weights on these items.

Now, for the real reason for my post. Walmart has these shirts on a clearence sale. Last week they were $6.77, and this week the price has dropped to $5.80. Some of the colors of the shirts have already sold out. They do still have the sidewalk color that we want. When I last checked, they had S, M, and L. But, I don't think these shirts are going to be around much longer. If you want some of them, I suggest that you don't dilly or dally.

I have stopped at almost every WalMart from north central Georgia across I20 through central Alabama. There are very few of the sidewalk colored shirts left. Most are 2xx or 3xx.

BE CAREFUL ABOUT PICKING UP THE SHIRTS!
There are two other versions of the shirt. One is a brushed cotton (I think it is a thin flannel), and a light twill. The new light twill has NO pocket flaps, but pins the corners of the pockets with little brass brads.

Both of them are less screen accurate. Sorry, I didn't have my camera so I don't have photos. I did pick up two in my size so that Ms. D could modify one for me when she can.

Does any other company sell Faded Glory (talk about a name) brands?
