Alden Boot size question

Post by nicktheguy »

As a new member to the boards, I first wanted to say how incredibly happy I am to have come across such an amazing site as this - I have happily ordered my Wested and shirt from Peter at Wested, and am in the process of ordering my Aldens.....(bank account draining)...

Here's my question : I am a size 13D. Most of my shoes are 13 and I take a UK size 12. I spoke with a rep from Alden today and he tried to get me to order a size 12 Alden. Do they fit that big, or should I go for my size....What to do, what to do....To choose poorly or wisely.... Any thoughts?
Thanks again.

I think they run true to size. I would get your normal size.

Welcome aboard. The best thing to do is to have your foot measured professionally. They'll know which Alden size will work best for you.

The best bet is to get your feet measured properly first.

It varies between a 1/2 size down for some people and getting true size.

At first, I ordered a pair 1/2 size down- but they were too small. I eventually got my own size- and they fit perfectly.

Get your foot measured professionally! I usually go for a 9 1/2 shoe, but my Aldens are a 9. That being said, I've even worn size 10, depending upon the shoe and the manufacturer. The Alden rep should be able to take your foot measurements and translate them into Alden size. Remember, if they don't fit, you should be able to return them for a different size. (It's a good idea to make sure they'll do that before you order, though.)

I also measured a size 10 and they ended up being a little to big and got a 9.5 instead which fits much better. It says on the main Indygear page these boots tend to run big and so did the store when i called them.

Well well well, I listened to the advice of all of you and ended up ordering a 1/2 size smaller - WELL DONE!!!!
These are the most comfortable shoes in the frikin' world - really. They are well made and COMFORTABLE - I have been humming the Raider's Theme ever since I put them on. (I am a sad sad man, but I don't care!!)
Thanks again and if anyone out there doesn't have Aldens - get them! Your feet will thank you for it!!!!!
