Suspenders?

Post by Jack Flanders »

I can't help thinking how much the pleats in indy's shirt remind me of suspenders. Maybe an early incarnation of the outfit had him wearing suspenders, but as everyone knows: you don't wear a belt with suspenders, even if it's holding up your gun and not your pants.

To be honest, I just think they're pleats in the shirt; not a nod to past costume designs ;)

But don't rule out the old belt & suspenders trick. Many military uniforms, even today, employ a system whereby suspenders are attached to a belt. So it is conceivable, although not in mainstream fashion.

And since Indy wears two belts, he could feasibly wear two pairs of suspenders.

Indy did wear suspenders, just not with the adventure gear.

Jones wears suspenders in all three movies but never with his gear:
Under his suit at the school in Raiders (watch behind the scenes footage for proof).
Under the tuxedo jacket at the start of Temple and in Venice like Pyroxene showed.

Oh all right, it's "braces" to you British...

Wonder if this obligates to any pint purchases from your side? I bet it does.
