I checked and they only have limited sizes. All smaller than my feet. Anyone that fit into these remaining sizes, this is an excellent buy. In other words, if you have small feet and one of these sizes fit you and you are considering it, I wouldn't dilly or dally.

What's a lug?

Personally, I would recommend these for those who don't want to distress them. If you don't mind a little elbow grease, definately get the Deckers, they look a little more screen accurate after distressing. (I think there's a photo comparison and tutorial somewhere in here). I also don't care for the waffle-stomp sole...but 30 bucks is right down my alley!

Speaking of soles--the waffle stompers would probably be Indy's preference if they were around then, since you might as well wear roller skates instead of Aldens when you are on any kind of slick surface! 8-[

Texas Jones, a lug is the pattern on the sole of these shoes. It is what you referred to as a "waffle stomper".

Now, a lughead is a totally different matter. When you look that one up in the dictionary, you just see a picture of Bink.

IJ, Deckers were offered through JCrew as another Aldens substitute, and a while ago, were also discounted for clearance, from over $100 to $40. A few of us managed to snap them up. I REALLY like mine, and am content with their similarities to the Alden 405's.

As Moloram mentioned, tho, since they were a clearance item, they are no longer available. Too bad, cuz I probably should have got more than one pair. Hopefully the Rugged's will cut down on the amount of wear to the Deckers as I can wear them out to the bush instead.

I got those too Indiana Gater. They're great boots! I figured for $29.95, if they have your size on the "Rugged" ones, it would be a steal. The lug sole aside. Although, the decker soles are a bit spongy.

How do the sizes run in these?

Also does anyone know what the M means in their sizing?

I wear 10 to 10 1/2 and am excited about these shows.

My work boots are 10EE, but I did that because of the steel toes (They rub less this way IMHO)

I've had my JCrew Rugged boots for over a year now, and they are great. They do have almost a purple or lavender tint to them (mine did at least) which was easily remedied with Pecards boot oil and Pecards leather dressing. They've broken in nicely and are very comfortable.

Mason, if the Rugged are like the Deckers (and I hope they are) they run a bit small. I am normally a 10 - 10 1/2, and ordered the 10H (10.5) and they fit perfectly with no space for movement in the toes or ankles. Fortunately, the Rugged are offered in 10H (although only in the Cognac colour

) and 'should' hopefully have the same fit. If you are a 10 - 10 1/2, I sugest the 10H

. It still scares the hoogabooga's out of me to buy online but the deal..even when converted to Canuckistan Buckaroo's come's out pretty nice.
My only question is....Can IndyGator still pull some strings with the Canadian Customs to get our parcels through?

Gator: I couldn't help notice the

after your mention of the boot order. I don't think the Cognac will be much of a problem. By the looks of things, its likely that with the right shoe polish, the boot could easily be reddened or darkened. I personally didn't like the dark brown as much as the cognac. I think the cognac boot looks like It's been running around in the sand, chasing Arks and getting dragged under trucks. It's soooo hard to tell what the colour really is until its out of the box. I usually expect things to be darker than "as presented"...so, who knows the cognac could be perfect eh?

well, the only real strings I pulled were the purse strings...and paid for UPS. I expect the boots here within a few weeks. I doubt CCRA will hold them for too long...just long enuff to pose for some pics

I only make a face 'cuz the Cognac was the only available colour in my size. I don't mind the colour of the Deckers, so I'm sure these will be fine, too. I am anxious to be able to alternate so not to put too much wear on the Deckers, especially in the more inclimate weather of Ottawa. I'll appreciate having the lug sole in a few months, when it's time to go to the bush.

I'm sure, much like the Deckers, that in a year or so, I'll regret not having enuff money for more than one pair.

If you can find a size to fit, BUY THEM!!! You won't be dissappointed.
After a month or so of wearing them they'll be a favorite pair to wear.
A little Pecards and some dusty trails have made mine look great.
I hope they bring these back in the fall so we can all buy up the left
overs next spring.

I like them, but I will say that the Deckers are a lot closer to the Aldens.

. You're right Gator...the Deckers are a bit more classy. Mind you...the rugged's seem almost "Pre-distressed". Having seen your boots while in Ottawa, it is a great comparison. I also makes me want a pair of the Deckers

Duuuuuuuuude...

You should be more vigilant. there was (I SAID WAS..DON'T MAKE ME EAT MY OWN EBAY WARNINGS!!) an auction for 9.5 Aldens posted for $15.00...that's not a typo. Fifteen Dollars. that was only a few weeks ago. Dunno what they closed at, but there ya go.

As for the boots, I LOVE my Deckers. The Ruggeds seem ok so far. They don't pinch, but I find that the edge of the ankle top tends to rub a bit, and I think it could chaffe if I'm not careful.

I ordered the boots Friday, and they got here yesterday. The online tracker was helpful.

The heel cup on my Ruggeds seem to be too short for my heels. After wearing mine the tops of my heels are a little sore, especially before I got them broken in. Now its just a minor discomfort.

Well, at the end of day 1, I do not have any of the blistering on my heels that I did (and still do) with the Deckers. The bottom of the heel is a bit sore, but the boot probably just needs a cushioned insole.

All in all, not too shabby! Close enuffs with a lug sole, and durable leather with a moc toe. I am very pleased after the first day.

Let me suggest Dr. Scholl's gel inserts. Once I put those insoles in my Rugged boots the bottom of my heels quit being sore. Then after breaking them in better, the top of my heels quit being sore as well. Now they're my favorite pair of shoes. Too bad they look funny with shorts.
