The version in the archive book had painted sides but I think the fully painted version is not the one in the movie, here's a screencap which shows that only the sides were white: The prop shown in the Best of the LF Archives book has a painted front and back, while its sides have a high gloss chro...

work on some other projects I think your time has finally eclipsed mine. You know what I'm talking about? Any intention of finishing? Going by what you wrote in your last PM on Fri Mar 16, 2007 I figured the item in question had been tackled by someone else and was already nearing completion. As I ...

No more Clover Zippos!
I hope nobody fainted. ;) I will not be taking any further orders for clover Zippos or clover badge kits this month. I need to 1. regain the remainder of my sanity (work on some other projects) 2. regrow skin on my fingertips (resin, abrasives, solvents, adhesives cause damage) 3. stock up on Zippos...

I talk to him quite often if he is named relicmaker on the goonies board That's not me. I use the name Relic Raider here and the name Island Raider on the 'Lost' forums. On the latter forum I have a whopping total of maybe five posts. Besides the aforementioned lack of time, I just prefer reading o...

GoneSolo, I don't know if you have your lighter yet, because I don't necessarily know who's who. :) But when you get your lighter it comes with the cotton baggy, at least for the time being. Since a Zippo with badges is thicker than a plain Zippo and the clover Zippo will not fit in its original pla...

International Air Mail Shipping Issue settled
I have spent two days trying to figure out the best solution to the international shipping dilemma. For now it will be like this: I still ship items with a value under $20 with First Class International (Air Mail) for a flat fee charge of $6.50 for the time being. Priority Mail International (USPS) ...

Thanks for posting these nice photos! I'm glad you're happy with the lighter. By the way, the hybrid badges for the #200 and the 1941 Replica have a more narrow metal edge. For some reason I thought the 1937 Vintage lighter looked better with a wider metal edge. Just don't drop the lighter on your f...

I like that engraved top. Now I want one that says Relic Raider. If the scratches are superficial, meaning if they don't go deeper than the clear urethane coating, you can use 400 or 600 grit sandpaper to remove those unwanted badges of honor. That's the main advantage of the satin finish over...

Re: Heads up regarding dwindling ZipLight supply
If I can't find a reliable retailer with reasonable prices, I will simply offer my badge kits that you can very easily install yourself. Could we send the zippo case to you to have them installed? Absolutely. Quite a few people, who alreay had Zippos, sent me theirs for badge installation. I do not...

With all the prop fabricators on this board, why not just have someone make 'em? Make what? ZipLights? I doubt Zippo will like if someone starts copying their copyright and patent protected product. You can't go out and copy a Chevy and sell it. You can however go and modify your Chevy. As for desi...

I just thought it might be an easy enough operation to just swap the leds out. It sounds like its a bit more then that. I may just pick up a new insert for one of my other lighters. It'd be nice to have the option. Now if you can make a focusable led beam, then you'd really have something there! :r...

Battery life should be the same, because this LED is also rated in the 25-30 mA range. The white color of the larger spot LED, compared to the smaller white LED, may be a bit more towards a bluish hue. Color temperature may be affected by condition of the battery and ambient temperature. These LEDs ...

New ZipLight LED Option
This is an Ultra bright white LED that I make now available as an option in my modified ZipLight inserts. Light output, per the LED manufacturer, is at least 90k mcd, which makes this LED five times brighter than my standard 18k mcd super-bright white LED. This 10 mm LED produces a narrow spot beam ...
