Just thought I'd bump this thread - I'm still very interested in ordering one of these jackets, and now that Peter seems to be making appearances on the board, I wonder if he could update us on how it's all going.

Looking forard to hearing any news

I've emailed you the link, Sztybel - but remember, Wested aren't mentioned anywhere in the description.
That was just me wildly theorizing. Talk to the seller if you want the facts .

I don't know how relevant it is, but there's currently a 'Rocketeer Style Leather Jacket' on ebay (.co.uk): Hand made Leather Jacket based closely on the original design featured in the feature film "Rocketeer". Worn once only. The colour is light tan, the same as in the film, and the only...

Afraid I've got to side with mechinyun here - some of these replies are downright embarrassing.

If you email Wested about the Rocketeer jacket, they'll add you to their 'interested' list. That's what I did, at least

Roughly 1 and a half inches in diameter.

I don't know where you could find them, I'm afraid.

If it was a top quality bag... perfect in every way, I don't think $120 is that unreasonable.

Well, I'm no Swindiana  but from the 1941 date and the single drainage hole, it certainly sounds like a Mk VI.

The image name is actually 'http://www.dukewhips.com/tied__cut.jpg' (notice the two underscores used: 'tied_ _cut.jpg'). But the url you used in between the IMG tags only has the one underscore: 'http://www.dukewhips.com/tied_cut.jpg'. Hence, all we see is the old 'broken image' symbol. It's an easy...

Looking good Swindiana!

Can I ask a related question? What colour is generally used for the rivets / chicago screws? I have a bag & NH strap coming sometime soon, so I'm curious about small details like that.

There's a gas mask and bag on ebay, and though you can't see much of it, the bag looks similar to the one in Swindiana's above post.

The 'Buy it now price' is fairly cheap: £25

Just thought I'd let you know

Buying the strap from Noel sounds a good idea, but like I say, I'm trying (hard) not to start envisioning what I'm going to do with the bag  You seem to know an awful lot about these bags, Swindiana. Do you think repeated washings would wash off the stamp on the inside of the flap? I kinda lik...

Well, I'm trying not to get too attatched to it or make lots of future plans after my first 'loss' . But if I do, I'll definitely get a strap - seeing as he says the normal strap is a bit ripped. Here are a few more pictures of it, btw: http://www.sperling.f2s.com/bag1.jpg http://www.sperling.f2s.co...

Wow, you guys are certainly good at tracking down these things. But you see that bidder on the first auction posted? Well, that's me! You might remember me from such threads as 'Bag advice? - Dyeing / De-rusting...'. I bid for that bag just in case the one I found in the real world got sold.....

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm still undecided on the whole dyeing issue - I'll see what I think once I actually get it home and can have a good look at it.

So, thanks again. I may post images some time to gauge further opinions.

See you later

Bag advice? - Dyeing / De-rusting...

Hi... my first post (wooh!) I've found a MkVII bag in a shop nearby (I've asked the guy to hold it for me for a day or two), but it's not in the greatest shape. 1) The snaps and vent holes are not shiny like pictures on the site here - they're dark (rust, I guess). The ring strap holders are ...
