Zip it up, lay it flat on a bed front up with sleeves flat and out to the sides. Measure the distance between the side seams across the front of the jacket from armpit to armpit.

For the shoulders, I did the same thing.

Riku, I think if shellac is exposed to water for a period of time, it can eventually break down. As in it's not for waterproofing outdoor furniture or something. But for short term it's great.
