I think you'll be better served by an akubra federation given your hat criteria and your price range. Really for the money they are excellent, I have two that have with stood quite a bit of daily wear in all conditions and are holding up very well, no tapering and I never experienced any brim malad...

Doesn't look as bad as I thought is was going to be from what you wrote. Most of what you see is the hat it's self but I still think you can improve the bash.
