I for one agree with you on this one 3K$. I have a long oval shaped noggin and when I put on my Fed Dlx it stretches it out, creates the mushroom type effect and definitely deepens the bashes.

(and yes if I wear the hat for too long it leaves a red forehead dent

The Deluxe is thinner and smoother felt, but I concur that it could be a tad lighter in colour. That said, in the harsh Aussie sun, it photographs lighter.

I own both and can honestly say that the difference is marked between the Deluxe and the regular. The Dlx has a great smooth finish and the hatband is very comfy.

Go for the Dlx (as you have done and you have chosen wisely) you will not be disappointed. ;-)
