I guess I am the best to answer this as I have lots of both! The color is identical in both felts, I don't have side by side, the pics I do have were taken under different light so indicate a variation which is not present. The the deluxe felt is as per the Dark Brown, a little softer to feel, smoot...

The first batch of Fed 4's came through without the IV added - if you ordered a Fed 4 that is what was sent. The IV was added from the second batch. It was a simple oversight at the factory partly due to the rush in getting them out prior to the movie. To send them back for re stamping would have be...

I will add a little to Michaelson's excellent advice - if you use the lampshade trick or the hairdryer method to reduce the size of your hat the trick is gradual and patience. Leather does not like getting hot - it will not shrink in front of your eyes. Wet the band, warm (not heat) the leather then...

Hi John, you look like you are having issues with the top bash which should be just a centre crease. This should be placed into the hat first so the crown remains relatively high and the side profile relatively straight. The sides can then be shaped. Vegeta has posted some good pics as a guide. Once...

Shipping to the UK

We (Hatsdirect) do not recommend EMS to the UK because it can take 7+ days, you are 100% guaranteed to be charged import duties and other charges we do not understand. Airmail takes 5 days usually - and you generally don't pay duty (your poor Queen will have to slum it a bit) because we write "...

Alex, the new style fits just a little tighter than the old version (less than a 1/4"), it is also a little more oval which is a good thing. Unless the fit was really loose or really tight you should stay with the previous size. All dimensions, brim, height remain are the same across all sizes....

Hi Alex,

the previous version of the Federation there was some marginal height change between 54 to a 64, this is not the case with the Fed 4, the crown height is the same for all sizes.

Hi all - another method of reducing the size is basically the same as being discussed but using a hair dryer. Lift the sweat band so it is sitting outside the hat. Wet about the back 30% of the sweat band by dabbing water onto the inside of the band. Warm the band with the hair dryer and allow the b...

Hi 3thoubucks,

this block set has not been used in over 30 years and is used exclusively on the Fed 4. The set is a wooden set, which is probably some 50 - 70 years old. It is a little more oval than the previous set making it a better fit.

Cheers, Ron

The felt is the same as before, the Deluxe is undergoing a further finishing step for the smoother finish. So the Deluxe will feel the same thickness but is a denser felt due to the finer fibres being used. The Heritage Fawn is a different shade to the Tawny Fawn, pretty much as pictured. It is not ...

Hi Bink, The color is virtually identical to the standard Fed it is hard to tell them apart, a simpple digital pic would show nothing but lighting / flash variation. There will be slight variations in dye batches but from what I can see the both the Deluxe and the standard are taking the dye in the ...
