ANYONE HAVE NEWS ON THE NEW FEDERATIONS?

Post by DOHERTYJAX »

I ordered mine a while ago. They are supposed to be here by the middle of the month is what I was told a while back. Just wondering if anyone has any updates

GRRR! 'm jumping out of my skin  because I am so anxious to start wearing it around! I can't wait for mine! I am so excited to receive it!

Sorry I just had to vent that to keep me going. I just don't know how you guys can wait 8-12+ months for a AB! Its only been two weeks for me and I'm already like this!

I have been emailing them at least once a week asking them if there are any updates. They said they'll email me when they get pics and other info.

Michaelson, can you at least tell us if you have seen the new federation in semi-finished condition? (i.e. not the block shape pic on federation page)

I have seen photos of the new hat and block, but have not had a prototype of the accepted final hat in hand yet.

I just heard that things are 'going smoothly'. Pretty cryptic, I know, but at least something's afoot.

I know that this is probably a shot in the dark but is there any chance that these will ship out this month?

It should be interesting to know if Akubra will continue to produce the "old" federation...It was not a "bad" hat and we don't know if the new model will be so satisfying.
But, I'm very curious because it's really too long to wait for an AB or a JPD when we are lucky to have an answer and HJ is, for this moment not really in touch (strange to loose a such market especially with the market on Internet...I don't understand these people...).
Waiting, waiting

....will continue to produce the "old" federation..
Don't think they will be doing that. I originally ordered an, "old," one and got a quick follow up from Ron telling me that they were out of them and were switching to the new type and that was the reason for the delay.

Vegeta, I just noticed your avatar, namely the : ( that accompanies HF's wonderful facial expression, and I had to sit here in my office trying to stifle the laughter that kept trying to burst out of me to avoid everyone coming in demanding to know what's so dad-burned funny.

According to the link that AC posted, the Fed and Dlx are only offered in the Dark Brown. I was under the impression that Ron was going to be offering them in a broader range, to include the tawny fawn, black, and carbon gray. Or is this just a slow start with the new product?

If you placed a preorder for them are you billed as per the exchange rate at the time of ordering then?

I believe they bill you in Australian Dollars at the time you order it. Your credit card company will convert to US Dollars, Pounds, or Euros at their current rate. Hats Direct just gives the most recent rate as a convenience, your financial institution has the final say on conversion rate.

From their common questions link:

Why does the price change in my currency?

We sell hats in Australian dollars. We do not alter the price. The price fluctuates because the other currencies may increase or decrease in value reltive to the $Au. This could make the hat more or less in your currency - we have no way to control this.

I was given a choice to be billed when I placed the order or when the order shipped, I chose to be billed at the time of ordering. Saved me a few US Dollars and Hats Direct got the net present value of the cash immediately.

Win-win.

I wasn't given a choice, they're going to bill me when the hat ships. Kind of frustrating for me, because I've got $136 in my checking account that I can't touch.

I actually like the debit card. It's like a credit card, but you aren't tempted to spend money you don't have.

Don't ever lose it. I deal with lost card issues at work.

And I saved 11 bucks on the Fed.

Got a reply from Ron yesterday night:
we are expecting the new stock to arrive very soon and when they arrive they will go out in the order that orders came in to us so it may take a week to send out the back orders.
I think by end of April, Beginning May we should start getting them. Keep our whips crossed :)

Amazing! Ron asked me to be his point of contact, and wanted me to keep quiet until he had inventory in hand. Now he's telling anyone who sends him an email what the status is! #-o

Well then, if you need any updates, drop Ron a line!

Just heard from Ron that the email quoted above wasn't from him, but was sent in his name. He ain't happy!

It's still 'in progress', so we're still in a holding pattern until stock is in hand, like he originally told me.

So, stand by.

Yes I do believe that the old ones were around 5 3/4 to 6 inches tall and these will be 5 5/8 tall.

Just as long as we get 'em in time to get the bash right by the premiere!

I'm sure Ron is well aware of our collective plight in this aspect...So worrying the man (or his workmates) to death will only push it back further....I'm sure when there's real news, we'll have it.

just chiming in... I recieved an email this morning (4-16) from Jenny @ Hats Direct stating the same that Ron's impersonator stated above...it reads as follows:We are expecting delivery of the new Federation IV very soon and when they arrive they will go out in the order that orders came in to us so it may take a week to send out the back orders.

As soon as your hat is ready for shipping, we will contact you with the shipping details.

Cheers Jenny
....I am chomping at the bit to get my new tawny fawn Fed IV... :D
