Never mind, the color's good, I was wrong. The straps are a little off, but that should be easy
enough to modify for absolute screen accuracy.

Scones, any numbers or manufacturer's names on the pack? The only writing in the pack is: 165-12-138-9329 JUNI 1979 TEX__WERK HUMME GMBH It's pretty faded, so I cannot read parts of it. Not surprising since I picked it up at a German army surplus shop 20 years ago. The one Bond tried to order from ...

Jens - thanks for the tip, it only makes sense to search for a rucksack of possible German origin in German  This one seems pretty close, I'd like to see the other side. http://www.army-nato-shop.de/shop/979-bw-gebirgsrucksack-klein-oliv.html It's a definite contender. Scones Edit: Here's anot...

I don't know if the German plastic-buckled pack is really that much smaller, it should be the same size as the one I have and that appears pretty close. My flap doesn't look quite right but I think it's definitely close enough.... for now. http://img60.imageshack.us/img60/3896/all2gs6.th.jpg If anyo...

I think this is the one, I bought it 20 years ago in West Germany What do you think? http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/9421/img0933ez2.jpg http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/2757/img0934yx7.jpg The German Alpine pack above is probably the closest modern version, a few mods and it would be dead-on.

Gentlemen, very nice collections indeed. I only have a few, including only one handgun - a Bersa Thunder .380 (think PPK), and three rifles - a Russian SKS, an Israeli Heavy Barrel FAL, and a Browning M1919A6, the last two pictured below. I'm hoping for an appearance by the 1919 in KOTCS, just so I ...

imagine671, the felt on mine looks much darker than in these photos so the difference between the ribbon and the felt is not as great at it appears here. I think it depends on lighting. I'll see if I can post a more color accurate photo later today. Update: Worked with the bash a while, and the crow...

Since you're getting an AB, there is no need to guess.
Just let him know your measurements. If you order
a Federation to hold you over (like I did)
then it's a different story

Thanks for your insight, guys. I'll admit, this is my first pair of
quality hand-crafted footwear, so these traditional construction
techniques are new to me. But, I'm here to learn :)

I think it was delivered by the USPS, I wasn't home. It took exactly 1 week from the day I ordered it. It might be time to set up camp on the porch  Did you get a confirmation email? Does anyone have any tips on what to do if you have a fairly tight front pinch and then decide to turn it? I wa...

Thanks! Yes, I definitely need to start working on the brim. I haven't touched it. I think I might have used the wrong screenshot as a guide. :-k http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/8472/sarduccizx7.jpg I've been considering trimming, but I just don't think I can bring myself to pick up the scissors,...

My new Federation Deluxe

My new Federation Deluxe arrive yesterday and this is my first time trying to bash a fedora. I thought I'd stick with a standard Raider's look. It's still a work in progress. I'd love to hear some opinions. I'm definitely open to suggestions, I've seen some amazing hats here and have learned quite a...

That mis stitch on the back must be pretty common. The first pair I got had that problem I've found out that it is fairly common, it is a hole from the construction process, but is usually hidden. I did not deal directly with Alden but sent the pics to the company from whom I made the purchase. The...

I only tried them on inside, so returning them should not be a problem. Fortunately I noticed before going outside. I just hope that this is an aberration, and not an indication of the current quality control standards. Maybe it was supposed to be an "irregular" pair. If I bought them as s...

New Aldens - Am I being too picky?

After months of not buying any gear, I went kind of nuts over the past two weeks and ordered an AB, a Federation Dlx. (to hold me over until the AB comes), and a pair of Aldens (there goes the tax refund) Today, my Aldens arrived. :D The fit is great but I noticed two flaws pictured below. ht...
