I posted this many years ago, here is an example of the flying squirrel effect:

Flying Squirrels are actual rodents (they are native to the US), Sugar gliders are marsupials, I have handled both species. They are about the same size and glide the same way, but the Flying Squirrels seem more agile and they can glide for greater distances. Sugar Gliders are more popular as pets i...

Soooo that's what you keep in your MKVII. The bag will easily hold two juvenile Gray Squirrels (I speak from experience), in this pic they are hanging out on my shoulders, kind of hard to see. It really startles people when they notice I have a big squirrel or two crawling around on me or peering o...

Re: Retrofitting gussets—possible?
My flying squirrel knows exactly what you are talking about:Ozraptor wrote:... it makes me feel like I have a patagium when I lift my arms up (a patagium is a web of flesh, like that seen in gliding mammals, etc.).

Got my size exchange in the mail today; great fit, but like any new jacket, it wouldn't drape right. Ran some hot water in the bathtub, soaked the jacket, wrung it out and put it on. Perfect! The water makes the jacket much heavier, and it drapes perfectly, stretching where it needs to. I'll wear it...

Got mine yesterday, alas the Medium I ordered was smaller than my Medium Cooper Indy jacket, I had to send it back to swap for a large. The back pleats were fully opened when I put it on and it was a bit tight. Liked the color, there was some dye blushing on the back panel where the dye is not as vi...

I just ordered one, was bummed to find out they shipped UPS ground- it will take twice as long as a $9 USPS Priority Mail flat-rate box to arrive. Hopefully the jacket will be worth the price and wait. I will probably replace the side buckles with rectangular slider rings, I got some at my local tan...

I just talked with sportsman's guide about the shipping, they go by item price, not distance/weight. If you order a $20 rubber raincoat from them, the shipping will be half compared to what they charge for a $150 leather jacket. Mention this when you call in the order, you have a good chance of gett...

Paracord whip question
I have made a few leather whips, I am interested in trying to make a nylon one. Do you remove the "core" from the paracord so it lies flat?

eBay replica bag I bought
I bought one of the replica Mark VII bags from the eBay seller costumebay (in Singapore), I cannot recommend it. The strap was pleather as stated in the ad (I only paid $12 for it, so that was acceptable), the strap was about 2 feet too short, I had to have at its max length setting to keep it out o...
