Re: Improving a pair of 80s german police trousers

I just won two pair of these pants on Ebay. For me, they're close enough without alteration but understand what you mean. Are your trousers labeled "Bund?"

I emailed the store and got a nice reply from an employee named Ed (can't remember the details, it's on the work email.) He did not have my size but asked that I send him my address and telephone number so he could put me in his file. This exchange took about one day.

I'd try and email them again.

Congratulations! An excellent pair of boots.

Are those darker than other recent Alden's we've seen?

I have a full size 1911 and prefer it over most compacts. It's an oldie, manufactured by Remington-Rand during WWII but I still love it. The Springfield 1911 is a beauty.

Will these boots be manufactured at the Morganton, NC plant? If so, I can go by and check out the prototype when it is completed if Carolina will allow it. The plant is not too far from home. Just an offer.

No leeching yet. Haven't been wading in the creek but have been out in the rain.

Yes, time will tell! :D

Who knew?

Anybody here know that you can use Rit clothing dye to change the color of leather? Specifically, I darkened up my J. Crew Vintage work boots with Dark Brown Rit dye. When I got a pair of the boots from a gracious member here I wasn't too crazy about the color. I tried using Meltonian and Kiwi polis...

I saw a similar shirt on Ebay for under $10 but remember, these uniforms are a Poly blend and will irritate your skin more than cotton. They are made for us lazy cops who rarely iron our clothes so they come out of the dryer ready to wear. They also have a reinforced badge tab above the left b...

I found some flat brown laces at the local grocery store of all places. They're made by Kiwi, the shoe polish company, and are 45" long. Cost $1.49. Could be a little wider than the Alden laces but no one will ever notice.

It's getting harder and harder to find the flat laces.

Thanks Harry. That's what I was afraid of, the lenght. I have long arms and upper torso and most shirts are too short. There are three Forever 21 stores near the office and none of them have this shirt either. I don't think I'll order one, just save the pennies until I have enough for a Wested or NH...

Hey Harry,

How's the fit of this shirt? I know it's advertised as a fitted or slim fit shirt but wondered if I could get by with a size Large instead the usual Large Long.

Thanks.

I really like the 6" Gorilla work boots too. They have that low sole vintage look.

Thanks for the heads-up.
