What are you going for. Are we talking the brim or the crown. Yes. Mainly the brim. It just seemed too flat. The crown I can deal with. Actually, I was playing with the hat in my hands... and if I kinda pulled the front and back apart (like if my head was a long oval), it looked GREAT. So, I ...

Taking noggin size/shape into consideration...

I just got my Fed 4 Standard, just in time for the big holiday. :whip: I'm very pleased with it -- but there's something I noticed. Following the many good shaping guides and tutorials, I have given it a good initial bash, and it looks great... Until I put it on my head. I think it just has to do wi...

Hey Thefumegator, Unfortunately, my Browning is from 1988, so no "thumbprint"! I did just get a ring hammer, though. It looks great. Very Happy Say, do people ever add the "thumbprint"? It would go through the words: "Made in Belgum, Assembled in Portugal", though. How...

I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure that only the Ingliss had that disassembly feature. Nope, FNs had this feature (we HP nuts call it the "thumbprint") until right about 1964. That second picture you posted IS and Inglis. Good catch! I'd never noticed that before. The one in the top pic...

Didn't Indy use the Inglis? There are pictures of both the bar fight and on the Bantu Wind where Indy has an Inglis. So, I don't think FN made Indy's gun, right? Nope, Indy did NOT use the Inglis. If you look closely while watching raiders, the biggest indicator is the rear sight. The finish is ano...

If you are regularly covered in dust and mud, in jungles/deserts, dragged behind trucks, etc., a revolver is a lot less likely to jam than an auto. Actually, one of the primary reasons that militaries around the world transitioned to the autoloader was the fact that automatics were less prone to pr...

I've got 2 Hi Powers -- A Browning with a spur hammer and a FEG clone with a ring hammer. The spur hammer has never bitten me, but the ring hammer will bite me HARD when doing drawing exercises. About 3 days ago, I replaced the hammer with a spur hammer that I got from ebay. No more biting. Of cours...

Congrats, Pyro. Welcome to the BHP asylum. :D You may want to (or have your gunsmith) do a detail strip and cleaning. It is insanely easy. I'm at work, so I don't have an address for breakdown instructions, but I'll see if I can't find them later. Be sure to check out the BHP guru's (Stephen A. Camp...

Sounds good for a carry pistol and limited shooting, but I wonder what it's track record is in a lot of shooting over a long period of time? From what I've seen and read over the years, aluminum frames don't handle a higher pressure 9mm round (or like ammo)slamming the slide back and forth over the...

If you guys like P38s, then also keep an eye out for P1s. They're basically the same gun, but the P1s are easier to come by and have an aluminum alloy frame. They can be had for much cheaper, and look exactly the same.

Both airsoft and blank-firing Hi Powers are notoriously hard to find. Ebay has a couple of airsofts, which are quite expensive, but steer clear of any blank-firing replicas you see on there, or any other auction site -- it's not really a replica of a Hi Power, it's a replica of a Browning BDA, which...

I'd like a Hi-Power in a 40 cal. Apparently, they were breifly availible in the US, back inthe day. I'm not much of a fan of 9MM's, I like something a little bigger. I'd still love to have one. As far as I know, both Browning and FN are still importing the BHP in .40 S&W. In any case, there are...

I always just figured that he'd grabbed it when he and Marion were running out. After all, he left his whip lying with the poker on the floor, but when he's outside in the snow, he's coiling his whip.

I think he grabbed it.

AIM Surplus had a bunch of ex-Isreali Hi-Powers for sale a year or two ago. They were $299 and went pretty quick. I snagged one and its an interesting mix of MkII and MkIII features. I don't know how I missed this before, but these are pretty sought after. They're commonly called "Mark two-and...

Hey, Ron, if you're looking for some good Hi-cap mags for a great price, look at www.CDNNinvestments.com for the South African 17-round and 15-round magazines. They're great.

...But avoid the 13-round ones they sell. They're bad news.

More testimony, not that it's needed, of Lee's great gear

I saw Lee a while ago at a gun show here in Utah, at which time I ordered a bag strap. I just got it the other day, and boy oh boy... I can't say how pleased I am with it. It feels much better than the webbing strap that is originally on the MKVIIs, and looks great to boot. Two thumbs up, since I do...

As near as I can tell, I think it's just the usual IndyGear, less the bag, jacket, gunbelt, and hat, and in place of those, his professor tweed jacket, glasses, and just some bowtie.
That's my theory.
