Michaelson, I emailed Wested about this and you were exactly right. No lengths are changed and it's just a matter of tapering to achieve a more fitted look.

Just a thought here, Erri, but are they EXACTLY 22.5 inches? If so, then I think Zooey is right and they may have misunderstood what you meant in your special request form. If this is the case then the 27 inches will be 2 inches too long.

That certainly makes sense. I assumed that was the case, but after hearing about a few recent orders that were given sleeves shorter than what was requested I'm wondering what exactly is going on. The common factor seems to be the 80's fit request.

I've read a few post saying that the 80's fit request resulted in sleeves that were shorter than the specified length. Is this a common problem with this request?

That's not a stupid question at all. I wouldn't have even thought of that. I've kept the zippers on the left because I don't really care that much, so I have no idea if they move the storm flap over.

I'd guess that they just flip the zipper pull and not the flap.

Pitfall, are any of your other jackets from Wested? I've never had this happen with any other leather jacket either and was rather surprised when the sleeves started to shorten on my Wested. When you give the sleeve length make sure to add an inch or two to the actual length you want, as the sleeves will wrinkle up and shorten at least an inch after a few weeks of wear.
