80's fit != shorter sleeves

Post by GunstarBlue »

I've read a few post saying that the 80's fit request resulted in sleeves that were shorter than the specified length. Is this a common problem with this request?

I just ordered a jacket and asked for the 80's fit, so I'm a bit worried that I'll get sleeves that are too short.

I'm curious about this one too--I've ordered an 80s fit wested too! If anyone has a definitive answer please share!

Cheers

From my memory, the so called '80's fit had to do with the tighter form fit of the sleeves and body taper, and NOTHING to do with the sleeve length. That's a standard...it's either long enough, or to short, and if you don't provide the right length, they'll attach standard sleeves to match the jacket size.

For instance, if I ordered an 80's fit in my regular jacket size, say a size 42R, and not give a sleeve length, they'll supply the jacket with 24 inch sleeves...to short for me. I need 25 inch sleeves, so in my case, the jacket would fit, but the sleeves would be to short.

Regards! Michaelson

That certainly makes sense. I assumed that was the case, but after hearing about a few recent orders that were given sleeves shorter than what was requested I'm wondering what exactly is going on. The common factor seems to be the 80's fit request.

Thanks a million for clearing that up, Michaelson!

I ordered mine at the QM, measured by the man himself :D I've managed to talk my 'rents into paying for half, so come christmas morning, I'll be a very happy gent.

That is assuming my Indywig gets here in time! :P

You better get ready for the Canadian taxes, Craig. Just a heads up, since it's not even close to the $20 that our friends South of the border have to pay

Yeah I know :S I got nailed on that with my first one, which was subsequently stolen in a bar.

Seriously, what's the point of stealing a made-to-measure jacket?

However, the chance to get a jacket by the man himself--i couldn't pass it up.

I don't know about erri's, but with mine the shorter sleeves were a mistake by me (luckily when I was measuring them after receiving the jacket, rather than when ordering). Turns out I somehow measured them wrong when I was checking their length and I was just being paranoid/standing funny when I was checking in the mirror!

So Michaelson is right (no surprise there! ); 80's fit does not affect sleeve length.

I ordered 80s fit as well, and my sleeves are fine. Never had a jacket fit so well. Only mistake was not ordering two!

That's a relief. Thanks for the information, everyone. :)

I figured that was the case, but I was just a little paranoid after reading about a few different instances with shorter than expected sleeves. I was hoping there would be examples of the contrary.

Michaelson, I emailed Wested about this and you were exactly right. No lengths are changed and it's just a matter of tapering to achieve a more fitted look.

Thanks again. :)

I don't think that the 80's fit has nothing to do with the lenght of the sleeves

Regard

EDIT... too late  you discovered that by yourself already
