Alden white stitching, cleaning, dressing

I've been wondering this ever since I first cleaned my 403's. How do you manage to clean the white stitching? I wear mind every day in a warehouse and they accumulate black dirt. All the white parts are pretty much black. I clean the boots with leather cleaner, which helps, but never really makes th...

Hey, not to get off topic, but while everyone is discussing size and fit can anyone answer this? Every now and then I feel pressure where my finger is pointing (in the picture below) on my left foot. I would like to buy an Indy jacket that matches my Alden's in quality. I currently have a USW 30th goat and there are a few things I don't like: collar (too big), arm holes (too low), and dye (wears off into this weird red very easily). I've been looking at G&B, I like the collar and the arm hol...

Have you called Alden of SF or Alden of DC? I recently got mine for $435 at Alden of SF ans was treated very well. Nice, knowledgeable people. Oh, and all I can say is pull the trigger! I bought my 403's a little while ago, been wearing them daily to work and love them... wouldn't dream buying anything else.

I'm in the market for some dress shoes. Does anyone know if Alden's shoe sizes match those of the boot sizes?

Re: Legend 30th goat dye

On the other hand, you might be able to get the sleeves to relax after some more soaking. I have had some luck with this; in my case I machine-washed the whole jacket. Soak the sleeves, stretch them gently, put towels inside and out, and let them dry away from heat and sunlight. When dry, condition...

Re: Legend 30th goat dye

I decided to soak the sleeves. They were the shiniest part of the jacket and the only part I felt was big enough for soaking. They turned out looking great. Most of the shine is gone, the grain of the leather is much tighter, matching the rest of the jacket better. Unfortunately, now the sleeves are...

Ok. So I continued testing by using a q-tip dipped in alcohol and rubbing the same spot for a minute or so.
