I always thought they were oxblood. To me it would make totally sense, since the style of Indiana Jones in the movies is more on the practical side and oxblood works simply with every color!
You won't regret! I loved my old goatskin, but the horsehide-jacket is ... to quote my favourite actor "dynamite"-jacket. It feels and drapes very comfortable and nonetheless it's - how do you call it? - "tough as nails"! "Dynamite", you say? That reminds me of ...
I have to agree with you, fedora, about the dimensionel cut. I think it was more common from the late 20s to mid 30s. My vintage close enough Indy hat has a pretty extreme dimensional cut and not a wide brim. You really need to get used to that after wearing a wide brimmed Federation! Regards...
Not bad, but not quite era accurate. If you bash the front pinch more tight and turn the back of the crown a bit it would look perfect! Here is an example: http://i10.tinypic.com/53rtxsx.jpg http://i7.tinypic.com/4zsv59v.jpg BTW-What kind of hat is that? Looks like a bit like a vintage Borsalino Reg...
Kt Templar wrote:Henry bought it from another member... I'm trying to find out who. It is at least 5 years old if you were a previous owner please pipe up! It is a 38.
I just remembered who I got it from. It was LeatherneckJones.
That hat is amazing! I know you want it to look more like the one in Raiders, I thought exactly the same way when I got my first vintage hat, but please don't change the bash! A reblock by one of the AB-makers sure would be great, because that straight-sided block is the same way most block ...
I've done the same thing a year ago and the total coast of one shirt was 6$. As it was a regular dress shirt I also had to make pockets. I think it's a great and cheap(!) way to reproduce Indy shirts
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you cannot always be sure what felt a vintage hat was made of if it's not said in the lining or sweatband. A lot of of hats back then were blends so I think you simply have compare the hats with others of which you know which kind of felt was used for them. Regar...
You're right, Platon! That's my main reason, but I also like the color of the Wested pants best. I just had a look at what the local fabric shop offered and there was absolutly nothing I liked. Well, nothing for pants, but some other nice fabrics for another gear and vintage project of mine! Regards...
The hat arrived yesterday! It's simply great! @3thoubucks: Your guess is, right it's from the 1930s. @Strider: I actually bought it because it has this brim! It's not really bound brim, it's a rather bad try of replicating a 'Cavanagh edge'-brim which was very common in the 30s. The brim on this fedora is, different to the original, sewn on. Th...
Here are some pics of my bag: http://i10.tinypic.com/2ykxf5z.jpg http://i18.tinypic.com/2rc9we0.jpg http://i17.tinypic.com/496kc4m.jpg The colors maybe not accurate, because I repainted the matel parts how I liked them best. I got mine for around 40$ and it's a great and stylish bag for travelling. ...
I always thought the sides looked boxed shaped because Indy's clothes were stuffed inside - I.C. No, if you look this screenshot you can see it quite good. http://www.theindyexperience.com/screen_gallery/temple_screen/25.jpg Vintage doctor bags are the closest things you can get, IMO. I have one th...
I'm sure that most people here will say this is not their taste, but I voted "something completely different" as I already found my favourite hat lining of all time. I'm sure you've already seen it: http://i10.tinypic.com/4df032f.jpg If you could do something like this, I know what I'll sa...
Wow, what a lovely vintage hat! Too find a long hair fedora from the golden era in such a great condition is nearly impossible. Just right for the winter!
Here's the story: After I bought a navy blue DB overcoat from ebay, I remembered that Indy wore a dark DB coat in LC during the airport scenes and that there was an old thread(2003) about the overcoats of the movies. I searched for the thread about one hour, found it and a (small :? ) pic of the ove...
But do you know how you could really amaze me!? If you could offer a tie in the same color as your hatband(I nearly black brown!) and in a vintage shape.
   Oh NOOOOO!!! Why didn't somebody stop him! Now you should pray not to run into some 'vintage-extremists'!!!   I think exactly the same way about it as HJ, a unigue hat like this shouldn't be made an Indy-hat. I mean, you wouldn't try to make a new Ferrari o...
Wow! That hat was made by you? I first saw the pic at the FL and thought were he got the great vintage hat. In my opinon you really should offer these in general!
