Whats the most extreme thing your hat has been through?
As I came back from an 8 mile canyoneering trip through a local river, I did the usual routine with my trusty Adventurebilt. I took a damp washcloth and wiped it all down (counterclockwise, naturally). I put in its hat stretcher and gave it a look over. My hat has been through a lot to say the least...

I seem to have to travel by plane quite a lot now, and at first I just wore it the whole way where it should be... on my noggin. But, a few trans-Atlantic flights later, I grew pretty wearisome of this. I thought about the best way to pack it, and although I'm positive my AB Deluxe could take a good...

Source of Letaps?
Hey all, I'm gonna be over in London for a while this summer, and I wonder if anybody knows of a place I can buy some Letaps there. I was lucky enough to get a can of it from Peter a couple of years ago as a gift when I bought a jacket, but that has long since been used up. Any help is greatly appre...

Hey man, about the sweatband shrinking, the same thing happened with mine (and I believe all real leather sweatbands) So Steve recommended that I buy a hat stretcher. It fits inside your hat and you turn a threaded portion of it to expand the circumference of the sweatband. This returned mine to its...

Yeah, I went to the James Lock hatters (fantastic place, excellent service) a few days ago to get my head measured and conformed. Since I was on St. James Street, I decided to have a look in HJ for old times sake. I had been in there about a year ago and was utterly disappointed IMO, not just with t...

As I'm now living in London, I'm thinking of paying them a visit. I heard some talk about the store being closed for renovations, is this still true? To tell the truth, however, it's not HJ that I'm interested in visiting, I already did that, and it was quite literally the most disappointing expienc...

yeah, its called the Raiders swoop, and don't worry, its supposed to look like that. :junior: -IJ Yeah, I know what the swoop is, but I was referring to the smaller waves in the brim. I would compare it to a wrinkled shirt (just for the sake of comparison, I dont mean to offend, I actually like it....

Hey Buff, thats a good idea. Two last questions (i hope). Okay, in the various pictures that I have seen so far of the two hats, it seems that the original AB holds a better brim. In the pics of the Deluxe, the brim looks more...wavy. Forgive me for not using proper hatter vocabulary. Can the Deluxe...

Alright guys, I don't post a lot, but I think I got a humdinger (sp?) of question here. In 4 months, I will be moving to England for some time, and I have yet to get myself a (suitable) Indy Fedora. After my disaterous encounter with the Herbert Johnson shop in London on my last visit, I have made t...

Strider, I completely agree with what you say about it not being the employee's fault, but what I expirenced was just rude, and I was posting more about the way I was treated more than anything else, although the one hat I tried on, in my opinion was a piece of...hehe... ya know. :D But, as you said...

Excuse me for my ignorance, but I have a question that might fit into this post. Beaver and rabbit hats... are they really made out of beaver and rabbit. Is it the whole hide, Just the fur; just the leather? I, not owning one (yet), do not know this. Sorry if I am kind of stealing your thread though...

Oh So Many Bashes!
Hey all, I have decided to finally order an Adventurebilt, not having the best visit over at Herbert Johnson (see Disappointing HJ Visit). I am having difficulty in finding a bash that suits me. I think it would be a good idea if we had a thread that showed shots of the various bashes from all of th...

I got a quick edit here. As far as the hat hurting me goes, it was more just being uncomfortable than pain. The stiches were pretty bulky therefore pressing into my forehead. Another thing is that the sweatband area was very sturdy. I had space on both sides of my head where the hat did not touch. I...

Disappointing HJ Visit
Hey all, Three weeks ago I was in London (the day after the first bombings), and the two things I wanted to do was visit the Herbert Johnson shop to buy THE hat, and also I wanted to travel to Swanley to go to the Wested shop in person for a jacket (a story for the jacket section). Well, I walked up...

Different Crack Techniques
Hey everyone, I have owned a whip since August of 2004, the time of my 14th birthday. I have mastered the forward crack, the sidearm, and one where it swings in a counterclockwise motion and when it gets behind me I crack it like a forward crack. These are all I know. Is there a website that describ...

Hey there,
Could you guys tell me which fur felt is more durable in an Adventurebilt, beaver or rabit. I don't care about price, I just would love to have a hat that will last me many years and through many adventures. Thanks.

Hey,
Would it be possible for you guys to tell me how much an adventurebilt would set me back money-wise. Also, do you guys pecard your sweatband very often if at all. Thank you.

Wested Vs Flightsuits
Hello, You may have read my post in the Fedora Section. I have the privledge of going to London this summer. I hope to pick up a Wested, but before I do, I would like to know how the Wested compares to a Flightsuit Indy jacket. The durability? The screen accuracy? That sort of thing. I would really ...

Quality Of A Herbert Johnson
Hello, I have the privledge of going to England this summer. I plan on definitely picking up a Wested there and I have a question about the Herbert Johnson Fedora. Are they worth the money? When it comes to Indiana Jones, I am a perfectionist, and because Herbert Johnson made the original, I am incl...
