Well actually the $575 shoes are Shell Cordovan which is veg tanned horsehide. It is much more durable than cowhide and more expensive. The butt cheek part is correct however. Yes they are pretty pricey but I have 5 pair of Aldens Cordovan shoes and they are indestructable. I am going to have to try a pair of these in the fall.
