Club Obi Wan

Well, I know I am overdue in posting a pic of my LC horsehide, but here it is , thanks to Rob Irwin, from down under, for assisting me with this. I can't express in words how much I enjoy this Wested! As I mentioned in a post before, it has allready become a 'comfortable old friend'-type of jacket from word go! I have only applied one coat of Pecards, to date and it is breaking in great! It is even showing some small signs of distressing on the edges of the collar, the side straps and a bit on the pocket seams. This is my first Wested with underarm gussets and I would highly recommend, as they allow for more freedom of movement -- just that extra edge of room for a better hang on the jacket and ease of wear. This, to me, is truly The Adventurer's Jacket! W>

yeah..not the best photo...shot in a hurry with one of our camera phones with general lighting....it does have a wonderfull, rich, redish brown cast to it...Rob's posts show this with his outdoor shots of his jacket. When you put this up against my Dark Brown Wested Lamb you can really see the difference. W>

Did you get the 2-piece gussets?

No...standard, one piece. I didn't really clarify this with Peter/Gerry until the jacket was well into final stages of construction. I have a Lost World's 'Raider GS' jacket that has the double gussets, but with the Wested it feels about the same -- probably because of the bi-swing back allowing for the extra freedom of movement. I've said it elsewhere, but I strongly recommend the horsehide for people, especially those who might have already bought, say authentic colour lambskin. Why? Because it's toughness is completely different, and the colour is REALLY interesting and different. Rather than have a clone of your existing jacket, just in a different leather, the horsehide delivers a completely new proposition. And, of course, people know where I stand re: what leather Indy's jacket would have been "in reality"
