Do the Wells Lamont Indy offering 1130s still exist now? I looked for a pair when in the states but couldnt find one without the new reinforced palm or whatever it was. Has anyone been able to locate a pair or are they no longer available?

Ken, another member picked up a new pair for me a couple of months ago from Walmart - no reinforced palms or anything, just yer regular Indy glove.
I guess they must still be 'out there'?

My Walmart only had the reinforced palms in the men's clothing (same with Lowe's), and the gardening section was gone in favor of Christmas decorations.
I did find an interesting alternative at Ace Hardware. I will post pictures this weekend.

I think the 1130's without the reinforced palm has been discontinued. Sad, but true. I'd also love a pair in Medium if someone can score them. I'd be happy to paypal.

Pretty sure I looked ata a whole row of them at my K-Mart the other day. I will check tomorrow and re-post here.

Mikey,
That's be fantastic! I'd really appreciate that alot. If you can get a pair in Medium, prefereably the darker ones, I'd be happy to paypal you right away. But, of course, I'll take whatever you can get.
Thanks for the offer.

There still readily available in the Walmarts in our neck of the woods. You find them in the men's work clothes section in our stores. You find MidWest gloves out in Lawn and Garden. Regards. Michaelson

Yeah, I always wondered why Wal-Mart did that... Couldn't they put the gloves side by side, or do they need their "space?"

Never could figure that one out myself, bink. What's funnier is, neither department seems to even know that the other departments glove inventory even exists. I actually had a lawn and garden employee tell me Walmart didn't even SELL Wells Lamont, only to find hook after hook of them hanging in the mens section.

I had the
exact same experience in a Wal-Mart up in Central NY! I found the Miswest gloves in the Gardening section, but when I asked about the WL the clerk told me they didn't carry them and directed me to the nearest Hardware store.... The funny thing was, I had called up the Walmart earlier that day and asked if they had them, to which they replied that they did!
Puzzled and not a little bit disappointed I started to leave, but in doing so I had to pass the Men's section, and there I spied a whole wall of Work gloves, including the 1130's... just bizarre

I stopped by a local Wal-Mart last night and decided to check out the glove situation. Well, in the front of the display they had reinforced palms, but the further back you dug, the more you could still find some without the palms. They had large and one medium. Didn't see any small.

I checked Wal-Mart last night. All of the 1130's had the reinforced palms. I can get all of the proper Midwest gloves that you want though. I will go to K-Mart this weekend. I am sure I saw a full peg of the older 1130's with no reinforced palm.

Would anyone be willing to grab a pair of the 1130's in a Large for me?

But dude,,,he customizes them to a more screen accurate look. No one else does that for us! The guy's got to make a living.
But if you get a pair of 1130's then there is simply no reason to customize anything. For the longest time I thought the 1123's were the glove until the dvd's came out and I was able to framexframe it on the pc. Line for line, stitch for stitch, the 1130's are the glove. No customization needed.
I'm thinking now that the 1130's have been discontinued that Todd's will be seeing alot of business for the gloves in the near future.
I had no idea that Todd's Costumes were customizing them. Guess I didn't read into it enough. And, yes, I know that's how you make a living and I'm sure he does quite well. It's just more than I personally am willing to pay for them if I can find someone to send me the off the rack 1130's. That's all. I'm not at all saying nobody should shop there, just to be clear. He!!, I'm already thinking about one of those HJ's.

I'm going to keep looking till I find some 1130's or run out of places to look locally, but which other brands have a close model?
I found some Stanley deerskin ones in Home Depot tonight that looked and felt great, but I admit I don't know if they are screen accurate. Boy, the felt EXCELLENT, actually, but deerskin isn't cheap - $18!
Here's their line of gloves - as many leather choices as Wested!

The comparison on Todd's site btwn the WL and the Midwestern really makes it look like the Midwestern is more accurate - including that parallel thumb seam...or did I miss something?

All I've been able to find were a few pairs of mediums as well. I can kind of fit into meds, but need a shoe horn to do it.
Anyone who needs size small, I don't know how much shrinking takes places, but if you run a little boiling water on leather gloves they will draw up. I don't know what kind of damage it causes to the leather - you'd want to Pecard them several times afterwards I'm sure. Anyway, just a (twisted) thought (like I have any other kind. No comments!)

Well, there's your problem, Jess--the gloves are supposed to go on your HANDS, not your feet!

You're right about the customer service at Walmart...they were even less helpful over the phone..."Gloves? Yes, we've got gloves. No I don't think we have any like that. Just leather work gloves.
(I gasp at the lack of understanding.) No I don't know the name. Okay, I can check...are you looking for a left or a right?"

The 1130's are not the glove,,,they have the wrong thumb stitch. No seam running back to the wrist. And no trim on the wrist edge...
Mikey,
Anyone who knows me around here knows I don't like to be told I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to Raiders. I am a solid purist. So, I had to make it a point to take another look at the dvd on the pc with my 1130's which I got a year or 2 ago. I thought I was going to be proven wrong, but was not after I just looked a bit.
The 1130's are the glove, my friend. I have the correct thumb seam, the correct, non colored stitch around the wrist and yes, it most definitely has a seam running all the way to the wrist as you say they don't. As I stated earlier, stitch for stitch, line for line, they are the gloves. Not only is the outside of the glove a match, but the interior stitching is a solid match as well.
If you think otherwise, please tell me where you are coming by this information and I'd love to look it over to get to the bottom of it because I love to know my Raiders stuff inside and out. Otherwise, this is the bottom.
The way he alters them ,they have it all. The right thumb, the right forefinger seams, the right cuff trim.
I also looked over Todd's site again and his gloves look identical to mine with the exception of being the lighter color. My 1130's have the right thumb, the right forefinger seams and the right trim. Do you have an older pair of 1130's for comparison? If so, I think that with just a little Raiders homework you'd see that they are a match for whatever you see on screen.
I'll also say again that if you cannot come across the older 1130's then Todd's is the way to go. I'm sure he'll be getting lots of business from what he sells as they do look good.

Todd mentioned he removes the binding and puts on his own to match the color of the gloves the way they used to before they updated them to have bindings that are color-coded to the sizes.
Has anyone just tried bleaching the binding? Seems like if you bleached the brown one that would do it. Okay, I don't know about bleaching the green one, though...minty green? Bleah.

1130's huh ? Yah, all I have been seeing are worthless 1123's...I'll keep looking ...
lol. Gotcha.
Firstly I want to say that Jason is sick when it comes to Raiders knowledge. I know no other match to his off hand knowledge of this stuff.
With that said, in defense of Mikey, he is right. In defense of Jason, he too...is right. The reason why I say that is because somewhere along the timeline, Well Lamont transitioned their 1123's over to the 1130's design. In my opinion, they changed the name first then changed the design. I jumped into Indy way after 1123s stopped being produced so I purchased the next best thing...1130's at the time. Now, Jason I believe picked up his 1130s way before me. Considering this, both 1130 models should be same design right ? Nope, if you look at Jason's, his thumb stitching still resembles the 1123's design. MINE on the other hand follows what mikey is talking about...the thumb with the palm flap that extends into the thumb rather than curve around it. In addition, my 1130 thumb seam does NOT extend down the wrist, it just rounds the thumb. Jason, you saw my 1130's, in fact it was you who commented how they changed it...remember ? I think it was at the first prop builders meeting you went to....
So in essence, I think both of you kooks are right, jason just got the earlier more accurate model than the one that exists today.
Now with that said, I visit a wal mart everyday...a different one everytime in the city. It used to be you would find the glove section in complete crud and disarray, but as of recently, I noticed most of the Wal Mart glove sections have undergone some serious clean up, as in complete removal of the old stuff and in with the new. This saddened me as it has made looking for the right Wells Lamont obvsiously more difficult. No less, with this post, I see so many people are very interested in Wells 1130's so I will snatch up as many as I can find when I do come across them....and horde the 1123's of course ! lol...jk.
BUT be keenly aware my fellow Indy buddies, DOUBLE check the inside tag to the gloves...Walmart has a bad habit of retagging the wrong number to the older gloves so that it rings up in there daily inventory checks.
Lastly...jason, did you know that there is a Wells Lamont central business here in Chicago ? Its on Touhy Blvd ! I passed it on the way to a pharmacy the other day !

GM,
Thanks for the nod on the Raiders trivia. I'm sure there are plenty on parr with me or above, but I pride myself over what is ultimately trivial stuff. You know me, when it comes to Raiders I wanna get to the bottom line.
I did all of this research into the gloves months ago after I got ahold of a pair of 1123's, thinking they were the gloves. Then I saw that they were just close and were acrtually missing one of the two side stiches, making them, well... not the glove. That stich is key. The 1130's I have have all the correct stitch and in the right place. I looked over it all again today after reading Mikeys post. heck, I was surprised after getting the 1123's and finding out I had the right gloves all along.
Now it's gotten me thinking that the 1130's had to be around back then, possbly under a dufferent number, because the 1123's did not become the 1130's. If all that changed was the number, then why the design change? I wish someone who knew at Wells Lamont could tell us to get the full story.
I have to admit I wasn't thinking of a different version of the 1130's when Mikey posted about it. I wasn't thinking he was looking at a different design than I had, so Mikey, I'm sorry apoligize for that. I'll get some pics up of my gloves tomorrow so you can see what I'm talking about.

that's the thing...WL seemed to change design literally on the fly for no real rhyme or reason, kinda stunk that way. I remember seeing even color variations next to the same model on the same rack - go figure.

I just went on the Wells Lamont web site (
www.wellslamont.com) and found this:
there are two different 1130's one in the consumer section, and one in the industrial section. The consumer version has the reinforced palm, the other does not appear to(not a real clear pic). Also the stitching is a little different on each type.
