I was looking around for some indyesque gloves recently and was in a hardware store close to my work. I saw some gardening gloves which looked quite ok ..
what do you think? I've weathered them a little with Acrylic paint. I just need to remove the label on the side.
(hrmm they aren't really ladies gloves .. honest )
I looked on the packaging and they have a website...
either they are the first option (TGL408) available in both men and ladies sizes
or they are the fourth option (TGL413) available only in men sizes
Which ones were they? I being a small guy would take a size small so the fourth option on the page seems to be out for me as it only goes to mens medium. The first option is ok size wise but the colour doesn't look as great.
Otherwise I think, if you cut off the label, they are a great substitute. Which store did you see them in may I ask?
hrmm I just looked on the label and they have a code of TGL 105M .. so not sure which one exactly (but looking at the pics i would say that they are almost identical (when new) to the first option (TGL408) ) .. they are size 7-8 .. if that means anything .. (I've got quite small hands also and these fit like a glove .. ahhhh i had to say it).
They looked too yellow for me to start with .. but I bleached them which took the insipid yellow colour out of them a little and then mixed up a watery Beige-ish Acrylic paint colour (remembering how acrylics had once stained a favourite T-shirt of mine). Hrrmm actually i think they have probably shrunk just slightly .. and feel a little tight since my handiwork on them. I am hoping they will stretch and loosen with wear. I think the more they are worn, the better they will look.
The shop I got them from isn't a big chain store .. just a little local hardware shop .. called believe it or not .. 'The Hardware Store'
They had a few pairs of these gloves in stock .. and i imagine if i gave them the particular order code for the gloves they would be able to get them in. The 'Daily Telegraph recommended' ones look pretty good as a match after looking at the pics ..
I'll bring them along to the UK Indy summit Ken so you can see them. The pics from the Templars movie look great btw.
