New Birthday Shoes

Well, yesterday was my birthday so my wife asked me what do I really want this year - I thought for about a half second and 35 minutes later I was ordering a pair of Aldens 405's from a shoe store in Albany, NY. Hard to believe I've waited this long - I have been sporting a pair of sudo - look alikes from Sckeechers - called the Raiders if you can believe it. Now the wait begins - it may be several weeks before they arrive but I'm sure well worth the wait.

I have never heard of those, either. Are they very old?

If they are the ones out on sckechers.com now, they don't have a toe stich...but otherwise a good looking boot.

Hey IndyMo Happy Birthday, if it was on the second of October (if I read your post correctly) then you and I share the same day. Me I have a pair of Aldens and I'm not really having any issues with them other than some calf soreness.
Otherwise AWSOME boots/shoes.
For my Birthday present my loving wife is letting me get my first real Indy whip from Joe Strain, :whip: should be here soon.

The wait [-o< is worth it my friend these are one of the most comfortable shoe's I've ever worn. When people say "nice shoes" you'll find your self saying Thanks, let me tell ya, all about em.

Yep! I find myself describing the construction and pedigree of my Aldens whenever anyone compliments me on them! And come to think of it, the soreness of my calf really happened after my first good all day trek in my Aldens. After I "recovered" from that, I haven't had any problems with calf soreness since. Once broken in, Aldens are incredible shoes!

Thanks for all the kind words and wishes. The Raiders boot I have from skeetchers is a moc toe - I don't have pics but I believe it was mentioned by someone here previously. Oh, and not to leave my son out, his birth day was on 10/2 as well.

UPDATE:

Last night Delmar Bootery called to let me know that my Aldens were in! WOW - I just ordered them on saturday (10/2). It looks like the wait time has shortened. So, if your looking to order, now may be the time.

Update II:

Well, I took the day off and picked up my new 405's. Boy are they heavy - but surprisingly comfortable. Color is better than expected - I had heard horror stories of this pumpkin orange color and trying to think of how I was going to change the color. Well, not with these, a nice dark brown - laces are a bit short though (48"). The shoe store was more than happy to give me a pair of (54"). With out going on and on, they are great shoe.

Now for a funny story. As the owner of the store was checking my order out, she makes the comment on how this is a very popular shoe -

I mentioned that this was the very shoe HF wore in the three Indiana Jones Movies. She look up and says: "No way, I love those movies". Then I commented on that was why they call these the Indy Boot. She gets this surprised look on her face and say's - "That's what they call them - We have people come in all the time asking for the Indy Boot - I never knew they were called that - I keep telling people we don't carry those" How funny is that?

Well there sales should grow a little now that she knows what they call them. This was a great store - they even do extensive shoe repairs - It was a great experience. This shoe is pricey - no doubt but, it will last a life time with proper care.

Thanks for reading!

Mo!

Congrats on your Aldens, they are a great boot after broken in a little. Were they Dark Brown?? or like a Reddish Brown people call Brick?
Pecards WeatherProof Dressing is nice to darken them up more if you want.

The box says Dark Brown - The're not a chocolate brown but much darker than the orangie color they use to be. Yes I'm planning on putting Pecards on today - as soon as I get heel & toe savers put on. Probably a good idea to do the Jacket today as well.

Thanks,

Mike

Alden lists the only color available for the 405 boot as dark brown. The color called "brick" is the name of the Meltonian shoe cream that most closely matches the current color of the Alden 405 when it is new. Since these are brand new Aldens, then yes, they do match the color of the "brick" shoe cream.

If you would like to maintain the original color of these shoes, then you will need to locate some Meltonian shoe cream in the color, brick. If you want to darken them, then I suggest that you leave yourself open to many suggestions on how to achieve that goal. When set to choose which avenue to pursue, "choose wisely".
