Whipholder for five bucks
Hello all. I was at the Maryland Reniassance festival this weekend (working on my LOTR costume) when I came across Sandcrafters Leather. After getting a sword belt, and some wrist bracers, when I noticed a whip holder. No joke, it looked just like the Kepplers do in the pictures (never seen one in person) except darker leather, which I like. And what do you know, five bucks. I was like, SOLD!!!! I must say it is very nice. So for any of you in D.C. and the surrounding area, or would just like to go to the MD Reniassance festival, go to Sandcrafters leather. It is pretty close to the main entrance.
Peace to all,
Geoff
P.S. For all of you (Including myself) thought $250 was alot of money for a leather jacket (Wested), I found a Strider Ranger jacket, which is custom made for you (just like Wested) but it's $1200!!!! Aww man.......
Peace to all,
Geoff

Is that the Ren Faire in Crownsville? I used to go to that one years ago when I lived there. The funny thing is, I think I have exactly what you have, yet it's not really a whip holder, but a tankard holder! It's meant to carry your cup, mug, or tankard by the handle when you're not using it. It does look just like the whip holder, though. I still have mine and was thinking how I'll use it for my whip holder when I get one someday.

The jacket is made by Potomac Leather Company. I didn't find a link to it on their sight, but here is the sight.

It was about the same color as the authentic Raiders jacket. It looked like Goatskin, but was really soft. It didn't have a collar, and it was cut in to four sections kind of. The two sides, and two sections in the back, so you had four openings in the back. But still, $1200!!!!!! Everything there was expensive though. They had some pretty cool leather armor, and swords. I was gonna get a sword, but they wouldn't let me buy it because I was under 18. I think that there is a link to the Renniassance Festival from the Website. Hope this helps.

This is the one I got there ages ago! And for just a couple buck, too!

Yeah, right before I read your comment I was gonna post that I've seen something like a whip holder, only bigger, at the Scarborough Faire Ren Fest last year, only it was used to carry beer mugs around.binkmeisterRick wrote:Is that the Ren Faire in Crownsville? For the last two weeks I've been dying to get on and post this same fact - a perfect whip holder is the old mug holders we've been using at Ren Faires for well over ten years - mine is at least that old.
Irony struck yesterday - my new IndyGear COW account got activated - and just before I went and posted a pic w/ some simple info on how to make one, gee, I dig through all my old ren faire stuff, and the ONLY thing missing is...my mug holder!
(I do remember that last ren faire involved far more meade than advisable...)
Anyone know a source for mug holders/whip holders in the Los Angeles area, or at least a good leather shop? I'm down in the south bay, near Long Beach (and the QM!), actually.
Thanks for anything at all - IJ
