Leap of Faith - First Wested Ordered

After years of wanting one and one month packed with research, measuring, and re-measuring I finally took the plunge and ordered my first Wested Raiders with the following specs.
1. Authentic goat
2. Extended back panel (which is now standard btw)
3. 80's pattern fitted look
4. tapered sleeves
5. sliders
6. cotton/satin lining ( I asked for dacron, but it wasn't possible)
7. double gussets
8. hidden elastics
9. extended zipper
10. extra inch in front
11. side straps with x-box
EDIT I asked for the following mods to the pockets but Peter suggested that I not do it because they wouldn't be able to take the jacket back if something was wrong and it didn't fit. I was too nervous, since this is my first Weste, to take that chance.
12. scalloped edges on the cargo pockets
13. cargo pockets 7.5 in W x 6.5 in H
14. Cargo pockets flap depth 3 in
After going through all that, I almost forgot to order the pants and shirt. I figure I've waited for at least 7 years, so I might as well splurge!
Peter said it would be three weeks, so now I just have to find some way to pass the time. Pics in three weeks, hopefully!

Thanks guys. I'm trying to take my mind off of the jacket, as I haven't thought of much else lately. Rest assured, however, that I will definitely post some pics as soon as it gets here!

Congrats on the order! Man, how crazy is it in Japan? I'm currently residing in Taiwan, and 2 typhoons just got pushed up to Japan instead of hitting us!
Japanese climate is a little more forgiving than the taiwanese one though, as you can still wear leather and not be sweating buckets. It's SOO humid here in Taipei right now. I can't even wear my cotton raiders, although my federation has become "streets of cairo" floppy from all the humidity, which is brilliant!

How about "Streets of Taipei"?
Sounds like a great jacket.

Crazy indeed! In the past three days we've had two typhoons, two quakes, tidal waves caused by the quakes, another typhoon before that, and I think a volcano erupted! I haven't been out today (the trains weren't running and work was canceled), so I don't know how much damage was done. Looks pretty bad from the news though. It's starting to cool off a bit, but I think it's still to hot for a jacket of any kind here too. Maybe by the end of Sept. it will have cooled off enough...
Great to meet another gearhead in the far east. I hope you guys get some cool weather soon!

You won't be disappointed with your jacket! Peter does a great job with all of his jackets. Trust me, I own 2.

Congrats on your order, sounds like a winner to me. You can't go wrong with the authentic goat, it's a brilliant choice of hide for an Indy jacket - very tough and water resistant yet lightweight (compared to the cowhide) and of course the authentic brown colour based on the original Raiders Jacket.
You have chosen...wisely!

You won't be disappointed. Unless it doesn't fit
Don't say that Langpuss! Are you trying to jinx me?
I really hope that it does fit, even though I know I can send it back to Peter and he'll fix any problems. I had to send back my pair of Aldens to exchange them for another pair and the hassle I had to go through to get the duty I paid back was ridiculous. I don't want to go through that again.

Put it this way, if you've told them your chest measurement, and what suit jacket size you normally wear, you are 90% there already. A waist measurement would help, too, but not totally essential (which is why they don't request it).
The other 10% is things like the overall length of the jacket (I opted for an L fitting, even though I am normally an R) and the arms. In a nutshell, I'm a size 48... so I ordered a 48L with the arms of a 48R. It's perfect.

I think it will fit too. I gave Peter all the measurement s he asked for, and some he didn't.
I had the measurements taken by a tailor so all should be okay. I did get an email from Jerry saying that they can't change the pocket size, which is okay. I am a little surprised, however, since Got Maul recently ordered a coat with smaller pockets. Perhaps he was clearer about what he wanted than I was. At any rate I can hardly wait for the day that package from Wested arrives.

I wanted this on my jacket too at first, measurements taken from a ToD jacket. The explanation to why they wouldn't do it was that here was no way it could be sent back in case I wanted it altered later on. This, plus the pockets wouldn't be very functional. As it turned out, I did have to send my jacket back and now I'm glad I didn't opt for the smaller pockets. I think they will do it if you insist, but it's a great risk in case something has to be altered sizewise.

As soon as I placed the order for my jacket I began worrying about the measurements I gave to Peter. I just thought of something that has me worried that the jacket is going to be too long. I gave Peter the length for the back of the jacket, but I forgot to tell him that I measured from the base of the collar to the point below my waist where I wanted the jacket to come to, as opposed to measuring to my waist. He does, however know my suit size and my height. Will this mess him up when he is making the back of the jacket, and result in a jacket that is too long? I placed my order on the 7th, so it might be too late to tell him how I took the measurements for the back. What do you guys think?

You'll be fine. The back measuremement is suppossed to be from the collar to the point where the jacket ends... stop worrying and take a DEEP BREATH... you'll get your jacket soon

Take it easy, Shanghi. Similar thoughts plagued my brain when I ordered mine. My fears were settled once the jacket came to my door. It'll be fine. Just try to relax about it. Hey, maybe Jess can teach you the fine art of drinking...

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I took a couple of deep breaths followed by a couple of big swigs of my favorite beverage and things are looking better now.
In fact, maybe I took too many swigs, I think I need to lay down.
