Any other UK GearHeads seen these S&W on offer?

Just noticed an advert with these for sale...

I know their not a HE2, but rather a close cousin. Just seems like quite a reasonable price on a real piece of iron, which is quite close to the ideal

One word of caution tho...

Having seen some of the stuff WWA has to offer, it can be a bit rough & ready. Not some much collectors finish, as spent the last 50 years dumped in a box with a few hundred other pistols, collecting dust next to the Ark in a goverment warehouse

I must say, the price is OK. And the Victory does have the look and feel... unfortunately, the gun laws of Sweden make it hard for me to obtain one... lots and lots of red tape. Interesting prospect, though! Good find, Skippy!

I have a working Victory which I paid less for. It's a fun shooter, but I'm hoping to come accross a S&W 1917 I can afford someday.

You betcha. No matter how deactivated, it's considered a firearm by Swedish authorities...

I'll have to apply for a licence.
And I bet you thought U.K. had harsh gun legislation...

It *****... however, I have a pretty good shot at getting one, being a licence holder already... a lot of bureaucracy to go through though, to get a "useless" weapon.
Maybe IndyFil's project is more worth while...

Saw these pistols in person on the WWA stand. Seriously poor condition these are in

Found another S&W .455 MK2 HE with original holster for £475, although it had some nasty nicks in the barrel & the deactivation job was a right ugly mess

Found one at a Militaria Fair at Chelmsford too. That one was £350 odd (can't remember exactly). Still more than one I know of for under £300 (although that one isn't deactivated to my knowledge).

Honestly, while I like the pistol & it's a neat Indy prop to have...

...having to be deactivated in the UK & all, I just can't justify in my mind dropping £300 odd on one of these

Especially as I'm more interested in Indy Gear for using than displaying

That's outright disgusting money for a lump of metal. Almost 500 quid!?

No matter how much I'd want a "holster-filler", that's right out. And you say the gun was sloppily de-activated to that...
Guess the S&W HE is a priced collector's item, hence the pricetag... if I'm to buy a de-ac, I think I'll look for a cheap Victory Model some day. It looks the part and the ones I have seen go for approx. 1/4 of the price of that 2nd Mod. HE mentioned above.

Thing about it is, it's not even like the militaria collecting community have even really picked up on the Indy connection with these yet......unlike the classic photograph community & MPP camera flashes

I realize that many of you Europeans can't do anything about it, but for the money, I can't imagine owning anything other than the working article.

Actually, I'm planning to obtain a handgun licence next year. In Sweden, it's not impossible, but it takes a while: first, you have to be considered fit (no felonies, good moral character and so forth) to own a firearm. I already have hunting-related rifle and shotgun permits, so that won't be a a problem. Second, you must be an active member in an official sport shooting association or club for at least six months, and during that period of time you must qualify on the 25 yard range and "show a keen interest for shooting". Then, you're allowed to obtain a rimfire handgun. Depending on where you live, you'll have to plink away with your .22 for at least a year, before you can consider to buy something of a larger calibre, if you can motivate the local police that you really need it.
So there. My project for next year...
