New Carolina Boots (Aldens look-a-likes)

Hey all!!
Indiana Joe and I are working on getting a new pair of Carolina Boots. However, we learned that they discontinued our #164 and #364 style boots. But when I called them to see if they have any back in stock left-overs they told me that they still have a few left-over. And, that they are still getting the same style boot in stock. The ONLY thing different is that this SAME STYLE is now made overseas instead of the United States. The gentleman on the phone informed me that not only are they still getting the same exact style in, but that these new imports are only roughly $58.00 instead of the $79.00 of the previous Carolina Boots. I'm late for my college class, so I'd better go, but just wanted to drop everyone a line. The new ordering # for the Carolina style boots is: #3564 (for steel-toe) and the phone number is 1800 634 1468. He said that BOTH styles are identical....so I hope that this helps some of you if you were interested in purchasing a pair of these boots.

Captain D

I would like to see a pic of these boots. I wouldn't mind a more inexpensive substitute to take some of the wear and tear off my Aldens.

Yeah, I've been checking slowly but surely.
I've checked
www.workbootsonline.com and shoestoboot.com and supercasuals.com. ArmyNavySuperstores says they're out.
All are giving me an $85 price tag plus shipping.
However, I'm going to look into the Captain's suggestion since it's a bit cheaper. I would like to see some photos of them first, though. At least I know what the Carolina #364 non-steel looks like (thanks to Cap'n).
Anyone else with ideas or leads?

Hey all,
I was running late (as usual 4 my classes) but I just wanted 2 tell everyone about the boots. I simply called them to find out about any of the Carolina boots that we were used to. However, when I called them the fella on the phone said that the EXACT SAME STYLE BOOT is "still" being produced, the "ONLY" difference is that they are now being made overseas somplace. I asked him if there is any difference in style...color...ect.. and he seemed annoyed that I kept asking him, lol, and he said that he was looking at pics of the older Carolina boots and the new boots and he kept saying that they are identical. Only the price is different.....so, being the gambler that I am, I went ahead and ordered a pair, lol. So, if I'm not satisfied, I'll simply return them for the full price. I'll let yall know the scoop when they arrive. He said that they will most likely arrive this Wednesday....so I got my fingers crossed!
Highest Regards,
Captain D

Cap,
I've marked it on my calendar. I hope you can post a pic or two but if not, I'll take your word for it--you mentioned carrying a Bible in your Mark VII so I can trust you!
Also, let me know about the size thing--if it's the size/fit as you wear in a sneaker.

Hey there Indiana Joe!
Thanx for the compliments!!
Yeah, I try to keep a Bible on hand from time to time. When I do some Civil War re-enacting, I usually also have one in my breast pocket during a battle. Being a born-again Christian can be a lil' tough, but in the end its worth it
But anyway back to Indy, lol, yeah if my girlfriend will let me, I can use her scanner. But if not, I will DEFINITELY post as many remarks as I possible can about the boots and yall can ask me anything you'd like to know about em' at anytime. Take care!
Regards,
Captain D

Hey there and welcome to the Club!!
Congrats on all of your Indy gear...what kind of gear do you have?
As I was telling Indiana Joe, I don't have a scanner to take any pics, but these new Carolina Boots are great!! However, there are 2 main differences between these new Carolina Boots and the older Carolina Boots:
1.) the color is a slightly darker brown color than the older Carolina Boots.
2.) there is a "VERY" slight branding of the letters "EH" on the very upper portion of the boot (near the ankle). You can only see the letters "EH" if you purposely look for them....they are not an eye-catcher by any means. Besides, your jeans or kakhis will definitely cover them up anyway.
I ordered the steel-toe to help with the longevity of these boots. So, they are a quality boot at a reasonable price. Any questions about the boots, please feel free to write.
Regards!

Hey!
Wow, yeah you got some pretty good gear there, and not bad at all!
I too have got gear from Wested Leather and Noel Howard, some of my gear includes: the Last Crusade New Finish Cowhide jacket from Wested, NH Last Crusade style shirt, NH MKV II bag n' strap, older and newer Carolina boots, NH gunbelt n' whip holder, a International Military Antiques Webley holster (black like the one in LC), NH webbed belt, and a pair of the LL Bean pants. I also have a pair of the Wells Lamont Gloves, but I don't know off hand the number..but they look pretty good. At first, I was shootin' to get all "Raider's" gear, but as it ended up, most of my gear is Last Crusade, lol.
I too would like to get ahold of a Peter Bros. fedora like you have, so I'm still workin on that one
and I also need to get "some kinda whip" just to go with my outfit. "Thanks" for sharing with us the gear that you have!! Have a good one!

Captain D

Excellent Find!
You can sort of see the letters "EH" near the ankle. The only thing that got me was the price...$84.00....I paid only $58.00 even though its the "exact" same boot. Hmmmm....but it is an excellent boot indeed.

Yeah, Super Shoes prices are a little high, though they do tend to carry better brand shoes. How long did you have to wait for yours to arrive?

Hey Captain D, did yours run any bigger or smaller than your normal shoe size? I probably should have asked before I ordered
but I just went ahead and ordered my regular shoe size.
As usual..

...makers of work boots such as these assume everyone wears no less than a D width shoe. That's a shame, too. That's why shoes such as the 405's cost so much, as they cover all ranges of widths and sizes. Great looking Carolinas too, but they're missing a lot of sales due to not having sizes that fit a lot of people. I'm in that group, and that's really a shame.

I wear a size 11, so I ordered a straight 11, and she fits perfectly as if I tried it on in person! Just know your shoe size, and keep your reciept just in case they don't fit!

I tried to get the Carolina boot picture that was posted in a previous thread but it has been deleted due to a "pruning program."
For more info, see the feedback section.
That said, I have a photo saved on my computer so if anyone is willing, I can send it to that particular gearhead, have it placed on that individual's site, and then posted here.
Any takers?

I, too, wear a size 11, but in 'B' width. 'D' widths (their minimum listed width) and 'B' widths aren't even CLOSE, my friend, so there's no need in me even bothering with an attempt. Regards. Michaelson

Here is a picture of the boot I was asked to post. (Note: Nobody seems to know why the green line is there. It appears to be a corrupted jpeg.)
They look really good. I may have to look into a pair.

Those boots look very similar to the LL Bean Double L boots.
The ones that are NOT the mocassin toe, but the regular toe.
But the Bean boots are normally like 110 bucks or so.

I was all ready to buy the Double L boots, but unfortunately they were discontinued after the holiday season
. I do hope they bring them back.
The Bean boots are a bit pricey at $110, so these Carolinas may have to suffice as a possible Indy boot substitute. Does anyone know if Carolinas can be resoled like Aldens or the LL Bean boot?
Peace,

Does anyone know how these compare to the Aldens as far as appearance and comfort? I need a good Indy boot that is accurate but doesn't cost $250. The color also looks a little better than the Aldens. Any comments would be appreciated.

I'm in for a pair of these. I just can't bring myself to buy the 250.00 Aldens. There was a pair of Aldens my size on e-bay that went for 139.00. I missed the auction though. I will get a pair of these ones if they ship to Canada.

Raider1138,
See up above for the pic of the Carolina boot and check out this link for pics of some new and distressed Aldens----
http://www.indygear.com/gear/boots.shtml
Keep in mind there are differences but to the casual observer, s/he may never know the difference. In addition, Carolinas are simply an alternative boot like, say, the Cabella's shirt or the WPG bag. Nothing wrong with alternatives since they give one an Indyesque look for
a lot less money.
Hope this helps!

You also don't have to fight with the speed laces on this boot like you do the Aldens. I can tell you that can be an advantage when you are getting ready in the morning and in a hurry.
