...how does one wear the gunbelt? If the web belt goes through all the belt loops, does the gunbelt just get strapped on around you underneath it? I've seen some pictures where it looks like it goes through one of the belt loops on the side, giving it a diagonal look. Is that just the weight of one side pulling it down? Thanks.

I would have assumed it just goes over the web belt, not employing any of the hoops, and simply riding a little lower on your hips. It's probably pulled down to some degree by the gun.

If you've seen pics where it's attached through a loop, perhaps this was to allow running and/or stunt work without the embarassment of the gunbelt falling right off due to the movement, weight of the gun, etc?

I guess a gunbelt should be worn over the regular belt. However, in order to keep it angled in that cool way, letting it hang from one belt loop does the trick. The weight of the gun should normally pull the belt down on the holster side - if one doesn't carry a gun (like I don't) the whip generally pulls down the belt on the "wrong" side - securing the belt in a loop prevents that.

I imagine this is not a "screen accurate" look, but when I wear the whole outfit, I put the whip holder on my regular belt, and leave the gunbelt by itself. This way, the weight of the whip does not affect the gunbelt.

A gunbelt is supposed to be attached to an "underbelt" (in this case, the web belt), via some sort of snap or velcro fasteners. That is how I wore my police belt in my law enforcement days. Obviously Indy does not include the fasteners, and there is no evidence that I've seen that he utilizes ANY belt loops for the gunbelt. The weight of the whip will cause it to hang naturally that way. Practically, you do need to secure it to your body somehow, as it ends up all over the place without it.

The only time Indy is seen drawing his gun in any film (correct me if I'm wrong) is in the Raiders Swordsman scene. He must have had the belt secured to him in that scene, because the belt is so loose without it that it would have been pulled up to his chest before the gun was pulled loose. (Anyone with the gunbelt with holster can probably attest to this)

The gunbelt hangs low and unattached for cosmetic reasons, but in all practicality, the unattached gunbelt is useless.

We've since had a team of top scientists at NASA working on it, but it's apparently too complicated and top secret to discuss here. I often wonder how far that thread would have gone if not locked down. Definitely one of my favs.

Blues, are you following me around the forum? I just finished reading that post, also. I guess it just boils down to a dude has got to have enough ### to hold his britches up. I've been wearing a gunbelt for nearly three decades and it ain't fell off, yet.

I have to admit, that I have actually been in a big hurry and just stuck a gun in a pancake holster and tucked it inside my pants and it wasn't attached to anything. Guess what. It didn't fall down either. It must have been magic 'cause it was attached to no gunbelt, no belt loops, no nuthin'.

Let's not start that again... I still like the "Belt Angels" myself. We might start another nasty argument. Okay. Well, after reading that post, I was just curious as to how it was worn, because there was that angle going on, and I wasn't sure if you guys wore it through a belt loop to get that angle, or just had it on the web belt in a certain spot to get it, or what. Thanks for clearing that up though...

Yeah, we don't need that coming up again.
Having never worn a gunbelt in my life, I assumed that wearing it thru one or two belt loops on the opposite side of the holster, would hold it up.
Now after reading thru, it appears there are no worries of it falling down, unless:
A. you have an unusual shaped body, where your legs are really skinny, and you have no leg mass to keep the holster up, or
B. You've been taking those pills, "Noassatalls"

Well...I almost hate to point it out, but...again...regardless as to the size of your caboose or the shape of your body...all that would likely be required is a little tightening to keep it on.

Well I'm not worried about keeping it on... I know it'll stay on before, I've worn one before. I'm just wondering HOW it's worn, to get the look that you need. I'm doing everything Raiders style, so I assume I just need to layer it over the web belt and have the gun side go down just a little bit underneath it? (It'll probably do that by itself anyway) Right?

I think the title of this thread should have been, "odds and ends".

Believe me...once you buckle it one on with whip and gun in holster, it will seek it's OWN level of 'ride'. They all do. I've never had to have a 'keeper' on a gunbelt either, and I've never had one either fall off or hinder a draw of revolver from flapholster, as the rig itself is pretty heavy as is. SHANE - DUDE! We both live in the OC so meet me at a Starbucks someday after School and I'll show you how to wear a gunbelt - I've been wearing them since I was six and it only came off once -WITH MY PANTS! I was doing a stunt show, see..... okay long story.

TE, do you know where Fullerton is? There's a Starbucks that's REALLY close to my school. It would be great to see in person how you wear one of those things. And I'll wear my Akubra.
