Whip holder

Post by Indiana Blizzard »

Well I got a new whip holder from tods costumes , I have had it for a week now, and I must say I am quite impressed with the product, this one is the one that is adjustable with velcro, I wasnt sure how it would hold at first but it seems to do a fine job, the only negitive thing I could say about it is I wish that they had made it out of a little thicker leather, other than that I love it, the whip stays put like it was glued on my hip.and releases with ease with a flick of my thumb.
Just thought you guys would like to know. :D

Not to undermine anyone's business here as those holders look great, but as an alternative whip holders are really easy to have made up at your local leather shop.

I had one made using a couple of printed-out pics last year for an EmBrand 10 footer and it came out great. I plan to have a second one made for my new 8 footer from Jerry here on COW, coming anytime soon. :D

It didn't cost me very much at all, just a tenner or so if I remember correctly, and it was ready to collect within the hour.

Anyway, those look very nice! Sorry to hijack the thread  , back on topic...

I recently spoke to the people at baron and yes they stated that they did make several of the TOD hats, and I asked specificly was it the hat Ford wore or were they stunt hats or what and they said yes they made hats specifically for ford.I do tend to believe them after speaking to them, they are like wested in the fact that they make hats for many movies so their income is not dependant on making hats for the public, now this is not to say that there were not other hats made by HJ in the film but baron produces a fine hat from what I can tell and accurate also.check it out. Just my 2 cents

So, in that case -
(insert Dragnet musical fill-in)
maybe we shouldn't blame good ole HJ for all that horrible tapering business in ToD, then...?

I guess it all depends on what you like , I like the hats in TOD better than the other 2 movies, although it does change throughout the film, my favorite is the shot of Indy when he is just about to release the kids and it shows him in shadow and fog "smoke" in the tunnel.

Oh, don't get me wrong - I'm a ToD devotee myself. I just find it strange that Baron Hats have been dwelling in obscurity in the Indy community - if Baron made the Temple hats, then they should be up there with HJ as the most sought-after fedoras!

I agree , I cant explain why that has happened, I just know what they said, wheather they actually did or not I dont know, but if I had to deal with either of them I would choose Baron for ths simple fact that I have been reading post stating that HJ hats are not a product with continuity, you never know what you will get , if you can get anything at all
I guess since they are the "hatter for the royals" they dont need us "little people"anyway I certainly am not the expert on hats here,so for me to say it is the original or not would be foolish but that IS what they claim and if they can reproduce the hat better than HJ in my opinion well they get my dollar$$$$ and thats where the rubber meets the road.
