Anyone ever use Dr Scholls inserts in their Aldens???

Hey folks, as most of you know, I've modified my Aldens with Vibram soles, to make them work friendly. I've been using them everyday since the beginning of June, and they have been holding up great. The Vibram soles are awesome, and I haven't had a single slip problem.
Now, for my question.
I also noticed that when I carry heavier loads, the Aldens cushioning is unforgiving in the heel, and I think I may have to try some of those new Gel inserts that Dr Scholls has been advertising.
Has anyone done this, and if so, have you noticed any increase in comfort of the Alden boot?
Now, I'm not saying the Aldens aren't a comfortable boot, but sometimes I carry bags of cement, and shingles all day long, and my heels, and even my back seem to be suffering. I'm hoping I won't have to retire my Aldens from work duty, becasue I am really enjoying them otherwise.

So, as the ad says:
"Are you Gellin?"

Only costs a few dollars to try 'em out, why not?

I bought some Jells for my british Ammo Boots, and they work great! I've since got them for my other pair of re-enacting boots, and my chippewa work boots. They are awesome! Now hauling the Bren Gun and it's ammo are at least pleasant for my feet.

No I haven't. I have used them in hiking boots and they worked well. So, I would think it would work.

I've had a pair of orthotic arch support insoles which I've used in my Aldens right from the day they showed up at my door (a couple of years now...). The boots are extremely comfortable to start with, but with my feet needing a bit of prodding in the arch department, those orthotics are wonderful! Now, as for gellin'.... There's an idea. "Hey, Indiana Jones, are you gellin'?" "Aw, yeah. I'm gellin' and the Nazis are smellin'!"

Sincere regards,

Henry Jones, Sr.

I have had my pair for about 2 years now and I noticed early on that I felt fatigue in the arch and heel. The orthopeadic specialist cut me a pair of foam insoles but after wearing them a few weeks I noticed that the cushioning effect was not as good. I then swapped out a pair of insoles that I had in my Vasque hiking boots and they really have held up well. They have a slight arch support and a padded heel. Just thought I would pass it along. Enjoy them........I sure have enjoyed mine. Regards, Williamson.

I've had gels not in my Aldens but in other shoes. They are comfortable if they are in the right shoe. The shoes I had them in fit my feet just right. But when I put the gels in they made the fit tighter due to the gel's thickness. If you have plenty of room at this moment in your Alden's I would say, "Go for it!" I ended up getting some Dr. Scholls arch supports that run from the heel through to the arch area. Those were more comfortable for me. But again these weren't in my Aldens but in some other boots instead. You might want to look also if you have flat feet or high archs. If you have flat feet the gels might be more comfortable than arch supports would be. But I'm not a podiatrist, so take my words with a grain of salt.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I took a trip to the local CVS drug store this morning, and picked up a pair of the Gel inserts. I installed them, and need to give them a test run today. They do make the shoes a little more snug, so I may have to try the heel cushions that htye offer in the same material, if these end up feeling too uncomfortably snug.
I'll keep youi posted.

BTW, I went to the Dr. Scholls website, and they had a $2.00 off coupon for these babies, that you can print out. If you're thinking of trying these, I'd suggest taking advantage of the coupon offer.

I did have insoles in my Aldens, but found it made them slightly too tight so removed them. However, I still have additional foam padding strips behind the tongue for additional comfort in this area.

I have some problems with my feet from time to time, but suprisingly the Aldens never give me a problem - my Nike's DO! Wierd, huh. :?: :)

Try Sorbothane heel or full insole inserts instead of foam pads or gel. They never wear out.
