I just got back from a weekend trip and found this article in my Saturday Boston Globe
Ready To Snap: Whip enthusiasts take a crack at elevating their hobby to the level of sport
It is an article wrapped loosely around
Catwoman and features in part
Eric Inman of The New England Whip Enthusiasts.
(I really gotta get up there one of these days...)
It's a nice little article that does some justice to the sport for a change.
Enjoy

Thanks for the link. That's a great article. I've forwarded the link onto Sebastian as well. I think it's funny how they compare him to Madonna and Prince.

Its seems that the movie is generating quite an interest in the sport.
I also read that the Chicago Tribune also did a tiee in article alongthe same lines as the globe. (I think Sebastian was contacted for that one too.)

Cool article.
The article in the Chicago Tribune has not run yet.
The author, John Keilman happened to catch one my bullwhip shows near Chicago early last week and came back on Friday to watch two shows I was performing. He did a real nice interview and the photographer took quite a few photos. (My real name is Chris Camp, if Canasta doesn't show up in the article) Both guys were really nice to work with. John mentioned that earlier that day he had spoken with Mark Allen (WWAC) and Sebastian.
He is writting a number of articles around the theme of unusual vocations. (or somthing to that effect). (Demolition Derby and the cars that are now quite rare due to their popularity and use in the fore mentioned. — Young summer interns at minor league baseball stadiums who's job it is to make sure the umpires have enough water and the chearleaders have enough peanuts to throw into the stands. etc, etc. 18 hours a day.)
If anyone is in Itaska, I will be doing a show there tomorrow at 7pm.
As luck would have it the St. Louis Post Dispatch just did a real nice feature article on the show two seeks ago and last Friday the NBC affiliate Channel 5 did a nice feature during the "Show Me St. Louis" program. Unfortunately, Being far enough away from St. Louis, I did not get to see the show. I nearly missed the paper article.
Thanks for letting me ramble, and thanks for the heads up on the other article Dalexs.

That is for sure,
my wife's cousin Angie wanted to learn the catwoman overhead crack, (as she called it).
Naturally, Amanda (my wife) taught her, also tried to teach her the rest of the basic cracks, but she wasn't having any part of that,
just the crack that she saw catwoman do.
.
I think more and more people want to learn that particular overhead crack
as a result of the movie,
its kinda neat to be able to show some one how to do those cracks.
.
Cheers.

to the lofty heights of a sport that may one day reach Olympic status.
Neat article, but this line got my attention. Guess I should start praticing more often.
No fair, tho. We Canucks don't have any Gear sponsors!
The US has David Morgan, Alden and FS
Australia: The Hattery/Akubra, and a few whip makers
England's Team: Wested, Herbie J and Noel
Kilgour, Farnham and I can be the 'underdogs' of the Olympics...
'Risin up, back on my feet
did my time, took my chances.
Went the distance,
now I'm not gunna stop,
just a man and his will to survive...'

Hey look at how well the Jamican bobsled team did a few years back...
The shear fact they were even able to survive one run in the thing is a TRUE
Underdog story....
Now you guys on the other hand...
One thing I will say since the article came out is that all of a sudden people are joining up or at least speaking up in the NEWE group.
We have a meet this weekend and a bunch of new people are looking to be there. I can't wait!
