Wested jacket alterations

Hello All,

Few days ago I wrote to Gerry from Wested to find out whether would be possible to modify the jacket that had been already made. I have a ToD jacket and I wished to change the size from 42 to 40 and this is what he replied:

"...Unfortunately, whilst we can taper the sleeves a little, at a cost of 14GBP plus postage, we cannot do anything about the size of the jacket. This is because if you reduce the overall size the pockets will be in the wrong position, as will the collar and other detail items. These cannot then be moved as you will see the stitching marks from their original positions and the jacket will be ruined.

The only thing I can suggest is to wait until you have lost all the weight you want to and order another one in a smaller size. If you mention tapered sleeves on the new order, this will be done at the time of making.

The only other thing I can think of is to sell your existing jacket on e-bay, or similar, where I understand they fetch a very good price and offset the money against a new jacket.

I am really sorry we can't be of more service on this occasion and, if you do want to send the jacket for tapering, please let me know.

Take Care

Regards Gerry"

So if anyone wishes to change the size of the jacket here is what you will be informed.

Cheers,
Krzysiek :D

It all sounds very logical and you have to admire how upfront the staff at Wested are about everything regarding orders and alterations. Gerry is a she, by the way. ;)

Sorry my mistake! Since I have never talked to Gerry I did not know about that. Honestly I thought that it is a men's name. Hope Gerry will forgive me that terrible misunderstanding!

Cheers,
Krzysiek

Actually Krzysiek, there is often confusion regarding Gerry at Wested. It actually stems from the fact that there are two of them.

Gerry is indeed female, and a wonderful person to converse with.

Jerry is male and just as pleasant and forthright as his female counterpart.

Thanks Mike. I am going to order another jacket very soon so it would be a great opportunity to talk to Gerry!

Take care,
